Cut toposolid by group

Cut toposolid by group

Hello ,
We have number of footings at different levels and would like to cut the Toposolid in one go.

If we group all the footings in one group and then try to cut the Toposolid, the group is not getting selected as one. We need to select each individual footing one by one

Can this functionality be added in Revit to cut Toposolid using group.

Well I wouldn't vote for this, I would vote for footings to "automatically cut  toposolids" and this would include any other foundation element 🙂

Honestly, I think toposolids should be automatically cut by anything. Walls, floors, family components, etc. I can't think of an example where I'd want the toposolid to have priority over another element.

If anyone has a counter example, please post it.

@mhiserZFHXS Yes, walls and floor as well and families such as site components like pools etc, this would be invaluable.

But here is where it gets a little sticky, we have to use topo blankets at various heights sometimes at 1000, 4500, 7500 and 9500 to demonstrate compliance with building heights and topo blankets are the best way of doing this.

Perhaps we could have options as to whether they are automatically cut or not?

I would also like to think that the revit engineers will stop treating toposolids as a floor when it comes to clashes and warnings, please!

Ah, so there are potential exceptions. Then yea, maybe an instance parameter that is set to on for all components? Or maybe just family components?

Agreed, the cutting should be default and if you don't want it cut there could be an instance checkbox to not allow cutting (should be a warning or something so it is not accidentally checked) or you could use the uncut geometry tool to uncut specific items.

Another option specifically for the cut tool would be to have a "cut/uncut by category" similar to "tag by category" where you select the category and then select the toposolid to cut or uncut.
