Curtain Wall Assemblies

Curtain Wall Assemblies

Curtainwalls are assemblies in real life but cannot be used in assemblies. When producing curtainwall screens in Revit we typically use more than 1 Revit curtainwall to create the screen, then there are the ancillary items such as brackets, closure flashings, sliding door screens and anchor fixings. All of which are part of the same Curtainwalls screen. At the moment we use groups to combine these elements, but in Revit versions earlier than 2018 we cannot add parameters to define Mark, Type or other useful data and there is no easy documentation method for creating assembly drawings of these screens. We can currently add the Panels and Mullion segments of a curtain wall to an assembly but not the driving elements, the curtain wall host and curtain wall grids to the assembly. Having the ability to add the curtain grid and wall to an assembly would make this process a lot easier especially as you need the original Curtainwall and Curtain grids to edit the screen.
