Change Tead/Riser start number in a Grouped Staircase Instance

Change Tead/Riser start number in a Grouped Staircase Instance

In Revit 2018 we are now able to have Multistory Stairs by Connecting Levels, and be able to unpin any of the upper levels stairs and change the Tead/Riser start number.

However, since we are not able to separate (ungroup) any of the staircase instances from the Multistory Group, in some cases we group the stairs and copy to the upper levels. In this scenario, there is a disadvantage: it doesn't seem possible to change the Tead/Riser start number of the group instances!

If you are using a grouped element, all of the instances will be identical, except for location of each instance. To change any property of the instance, such as starting number you just need to ungroup the stair, adjust the start number (and then regroup if required).

The downside of using individual stairs such as your example is that they are not associated, so you need to change the starting number manually after the array/group/copy, it will not automatically update as with a multistorey stair family.
