We need a simpler tool for direct 3D editing. Some basic operations like fillet and chamfer shouldn't be as hard as "create some Void-Generic-Super-Complicated-Family and apply it everywhere". Just make possible to apply fillet and chamfer on the instance-geometry placed, without modifying the family and it will rocks.
Thank you Autodesk for moving my post and aggregating to an existing one on the same subject.
I did notice the original post from this thread is from 2016!
Having worked with Revit for more than 20 years, I can agree there have been improvements through times. It just baffles me that some of the simpler things remain outstanding.
A simple tool that will add a chamfer to modelled elements, namely slabs, walls and floors. Current methods make it difficult for the chamfer cut to follow the edge of elements or requires model in-place elements which clients hate.
There is a tool in SolidWorks software which creates fillet, chamfer, Bevel & a lot when selecting the 3D edges instead of just sketch in Revit. Some innovative idea from that software also can be used in Revit. This tool is necessary for modelling
You can view this video of fillet & chamfer feature in SolidWorks. If somewhat similar tools we get for Revit we can use it for Walls, floors, roof, any type of element in project or family editor
Fillet option is present in Revit in the sketch mode. But if you see the SolidWorks video you would find a fillet & chamber tool which does more functionality than the sketch fillet we have right now. I want Autodesk to add a feature as we see in the video below to increase the efficiency of fillet & chamber.
@wr.marshall I'm specifically looking for a 3D filleting tool within the Family Editor, particularly for Loadable Family Templates and In-Place Families. Additionally, it would be more efficient if this tool included an option to specify breaks in length, allowing for different types of fillets/Chamfer where needed.
A nice to have addition when Autodesk decide to add this HOPEFULLY ONE DAY SOON, would be fillet with variable radius
Ie on a 100x100x100 cube one end has a radius of 1 and on the other end a radius of 50. maybe at about 15%(from 1 side) mark you require a radius of 45. Revit should automatically blend radius to whatever user inputs.
Basically similar to how inventor puts blended radius along a path.
To add to this rediculousness. even once you get it to work going the long way around, it shows double lines that both appear under the hidden line family / vg override. WHYYYY
