Calculate Mass (kg) on Rebar Instance

Calculate Mass (kg) on Rebar Instance

We would like to see an automated routine (similar to "Reinforcement Volume") where Mass (kg) is calculated. I suggest having a Type Parameter - Mass unit per lenght. Then this is multiplied with the Rebar Length "on the fly".
See attachments.

The Dynamo-graph is just example. This should be built in.

This feature will be usefull only when developers realize true rebar splitting, because many users calculate it by formulas in schedule and do not use rebar length directly to calculate mass.

That should be elementary feature.

Hi,

Will there be option to calculate length based on centerline or outside dimensions? Thank you.

Hi Daniel,
This feature is available for testing on the Revit Preview Release platform. Since this is not a commercially available feature, I recommend you to have a look at how this works and share your feedback on the dedicated forum thread

Kind regards,

This is now available in Revit 2027! Thanks to everyone who contributed feedback - this directly influenced the feature.

So no option to choose the style for length and thus weight calculation? Some markets use different methods of representation. I would like to point you on Method A of ISO 3766. This is quite big disappointment...

Hi Daniel,

I think I have a solution to the method you describe. The length of segments is computed on the exterior and the bar length is computed precisely in Revit. In version 2027 there is a type parameter for mass by length and an instance parameter for reinforcement mass which uses the exact bar length. If you want to use a bar length computed by formulas based on standards (like the UK rebar shape families) you can multiply that calculated length with the type parameter for mass by length.
Please let me know if this works for you.

Kind regards,
Dan
