Hello Together we are a cable tray manufacturer and also deal with the planning of cable trays.
We have noticed some problems with the cable trays.
Cable trays can not be placed correctly on walls or ceilings.
1. When I position a riser on the wall I can't make lateral offsets. (this then either turns the gutter arc horizontal again or it throws an error).
2. I also can't fix a cable tray horizontally with the bottom of the tray to the wall, then i can't route from it though.
3. If I run a cable tray under the ceiling and then want to go down into a riser tray then the riser tray is open sided to the wall. Does not work.
Now I can of course lay the riser separately... but then I no longer have a link to the trough (when moved, the two are no longer connected --> also important for cablerouting).
--> so there should be the possibility to link gutters manually.
4. The reference plane of the cable tray is always the center of gravity of the tray in Revit. In the cable tray planning, however, it is always the lower edge of the tray (is also defined as kote in the plan). The lower edge also makes much more sense because if I have to perform a system change with a higher gutter I can subsequently manually revise all the kotes again.
5. I can't connect several categories --> that means i want to connect a cable tray with a steel construction.
The automatic determination of the screw length does not work because only one category is recognized.
I think it would make sense to do it the way Aveva or Prosteel 3D etc. do it.
I see the profile or channel to be installed and can select several reference planes where the profile is attached.
For a square cross section this would be 9 points + rotation angle and then it would work but this way it is quite useless.
