C4R BIM 360 Problem mapping custom material images

C4R BIM 360 Problem mapping custom material images

Hi Autodesk

It would be great if BIM 360 supports Revit Custom Materials for C4R file.
We are a team of 4 members working with C4R and save all custom materials images in B360.
Whenever we change computers and sign in, we need to remap the custom images again as username is changed and it causes a waste of time.
it'll be good if there's a shared  B360 fixed location where all project members can place all custom images so the image wouldn't missing and causing us to remap entire material document assets again.

Is adding %username% to the filename will work ? instead using the real username, we would type
C:\Users\%username%\BIM 360\................

Appreciate if you could help to solve this issue as soon as possible as we need to render using plugin Enscape and it'll be using realistic with custom images.

Thanks

This should have been in the forum not under ideas.

You need to keep the material maps on the BIM 360 Project share.  So you would copy over your maps to the project via the Desktop Connector then map to that location in Revit.  FYI, if you don't have network drive search enabled on your workstation, you will need to drag over the map folder or the project folder from the Desktop Connector/File Explorer to your desktop to create a shortcut.

This same method is how we get DWG links to work properly in the project where everyone has access to them.

Hi mpwuzhere,

Please enlighten us. When you say "BIM 360 Project Share", do you mean the "Shared" folder that is created by default when you activate Design Collaboration? or is it something else?

Autodesk clearly stated that they don't support it and suggested to use Standard Materials. That's why we posted this as an idea. We have moved our files to B360 and are not using any Network Drive anymore.

Thanks!

Yes, that is where I was thinking.   I'm testing it out right now on a project and checking with the project lead if he can see my image I left or not before I attempt a full material pattern on a wall somewhere.

Ah...I just closed my project and reopened to check the path and it is adding my C:\users\MP\BIM 360\... to the path instead of BIM 360://Project

So yeah, your idea is valid...voting +1.
