Automatic Slab Cut Away When Creating Stairs

Automatic Slab Cut Away When Creating Stairs

I would like the ability for the staircase command to automatically cut a hole in the upper slab when placing the staircase.

This is would need to following options (at very least).

  • Create hole (Y/N)
  • The head room clearance required over the staircase (to suit various regulations etc.)
  • Boundary gap between the sides of the staircase riser and the hole required when not against a wall at the point of penetration.
    • I am sure that lots more may be useful but we need to start somewhere.

It may be that the tool simply projects a line into the Boundary of the floor above and then the floor above is then updated once the staircase command is finished (to be changed in the Floor> Edit Boundary command later if the staircase is altered).

It would of course be better if the cutaway was dynamic from within the staircase edit tool.

it tool.

With the very welcome addition of the amended multistore stairs to Revit 2018 this idea is just the obvious next logical step in an upcoming release?

Dear Autodesk.

Is this likely to be looked into in the near future?

When we model stairs we have to make an opening in the floor slab, although it should create that opening itself, can't we add this behavior in stair tool ?

I disagree, often my opening is not the same exact shape as the stair.

If what you are suggesting is just a shaft opening nested in a stair i think it decreases usability.  I'd rather not have to go into the stair family to edit the shaft opening.

I completely agree with this request!
