Assembly Codes as Categories for Visibility/Graphics Overrides

Assembly Codes as Categories for Visibility/Graphics Overrides

Our firm often uses the Assembly Code/Description of a type to control visibility/graphics, so much so that it becomes quite cumbersome to create Filters for each of the Assembly Codes that we are trying to control.

Since Assembly Codes are hard-coded into Revit it makes sense to me that a tab could be added to the Visibility/Graphics window (and View template settings as well) to allow visibility of each group of families with types belonging to each of the assembly codes, with the same controls as the visibility graphics window.

The proposed Assembly Code tab in the Visibility/Graphics window would look exactly like the Model Categories tab, but instead of model categories being in the list it would be a list of all of the assembly codes/descriptions with the exact same projection/surface & cut line/pattern options available, except for maybe the detail level option.

An example of a use case for this would be Interior finishes: we in the past used to use worksets for interior finishes so we could control the visibility of elements, if this feature was added we could just disable the assembly codes for flooring finishes etc.
