Adjustable numbering fases in circuits.

Adjustable numbering fases in circuits.

Please add a different way of numbering electrical circuits: in Europe, it is not rare to number the phases as 1, 2 , 3A, 3B, 3C, 4, 5, 6, 7A, 7B, 7C... Thus the function gets a number (or the securing device, if you like) and the phases get a letter. It is essential we can change this, because sometimes a project start with identifying the existing situation. Also for this, it would be nice if we could assign a chosen free number to a new created circuit, since in an as built situation, it is very difficult to get everything right now...

Hi @peter_vanorshoven - can you elaborate on this a bit?  Why do you list some circuits as just a number (1, 2, 4, 5, 6), and others with a number and letter? (3A, 3B, 3C, 7A, 7B, 7C)?

What specific country/countries do you see this convention in?

Hi Martin,

For I while I haven't checked my messages from Autodesk. But here it comes: In a switch board, we have 2 types of switches: single pole switches and triple pole switches. You guys assume we have a number for each of the lines of a triple switch, as if they are completely independent. But as we use them in Belgium, they are forced to work together, hence we use one number for the switch, and not  a single number for each of the lines. If it is a triplle switch with number 7, at most we would identify the lines as 7A (phase 1, line 1), 7B (phase 2, line 2) and 7C (phase 3, line 3).

Hi @peter_vanorshoven - thank you for the additional detail, but I'm still having problems clearly understanding the desired outcome.  A visual example of this would be very helpful for the two cases you cite, 1- and 3- pole devices.

Have you tried setting the Circuit Naming property on an the Panel to 'By Phase', and in the panel schedule template, Set Template Options > Circuit Table > Check 'Show circuit number on one row for multi-phase circuits'?

Note, I set this up on an Electrical Equipment family w/ the Part Type = Panelboard.

Granted the 'Phase' in my example (ABC) is before the 'Ways' (1), whereas your example seems to be the other way around.  Perhaps you would like to join the Revit Preview program to see what we are working on here, and provide further feedback based on the in-progress work?  If so, send an email to revit.preview.access at autodesk.com.
