Adding extra analytical node to Revit elements

Adding extra analytical node to Revit elements

The ability to add a node along a column or beam. There are cases where the boundary condition is not at the beginning or end of a element.  Currently you have to split the beam or column to add a node.  This doesn't work well graphically though for the physical model.

Good idea.

RIGHT!

Also needed for a continuously spanning beam so you can indicate attachment to another element. You need to use the same work around for this also. Splitting a continuous beam though to indicate its connection to another beam (bottom underslung type or purlin bearing type) is totally confusing and will lead to fabrication and erection errors.

I have tried using connections to create this needed node, but even though the connections recognize the cont. span bm and the supporting member, they don't add a node for analysis.

Being able to add a node would fix this.

@catalin_lang See above. Would it be possible to have connections add nodes?

This Idea isn't getting many likes because it is very specialized. BUT if you use Revit as a source for analysis, adding nodes at connections or even allowing point loads to do it is very much needed.

Dealing with this right now. Great idea.

Revit is definitely missing an analytical Node Family.

This family could be used for example to:

- create quickly snapping points for analytical links

- have reference points to create precise Point loads in the Revit model

Is there a way to do this is Revit 2019 yet? Adding a node to an element such as a beam to attached columns that might not be continuous will be quite useful.

This is a great idea and should be implemented.

Analytical model needs better and further development from Autodesk.

Definitly for Industrial steel structures we are having big problems with the limits, that there is not an analytical node possible. With pipe lines and other loads crossing the beam we have big problems creating a flexibel design. A free point load is not sufficient, because there is no certainty that a load stays on the structure. Also for supports there is not enough flexibility.
