I would like to see a 'wire connector' in the family editor, such that we can place locations in families (or on symbols within families) where we want our wires to connect. Right now, they just connect wherever and it looks sloppy.
If this is implemented, we need to have both line-type connections and point-type connections. For example, suppose I have I have a disconnect with built-in clearance. I may want wires to connect only to certain points, say the midpoint of the three sides of the disconnect without the handle, in which case I can use three 'point' wire connections. Or, I may want wires to connect anywhere along those three sides, in which case I would use the 'line' wire connection, in which I would draw lines and lock them to the three sides of the disconnect.
It's important that this would work whether in an embedded symbol (generic annotation) or within the family. For disconnects, I use model lines within the family to create the symbol so it always matches the actual disconnect size. For receptacles, however, we use a generic annotation. We need to be able to create wire connection points using either method.
Wire connection points should override any other methods of determining where the wire should be placed. For example, in my disconnect with built-in clearance, wires currently snap to the clearance because it's the closest to the wire. This isn't appropriate. If I have a wire connector it should connect to the wire connector, even if the clearance is closer to the wire.
