Add Control Points to Leaders

Add Control Points to Leaders

It's now almost 2022 and we still can't have more than one control point on a leader. It would be awesome to have the ability to click a "+" ADD CONTROL POINT "-" REMOVE CONTROL POINT. When working with equipment that's itemized we need to be able to better place tags.

Add more than one elbow to leaders, dont limit us.  So not just 2 lines max - i might need 3 bends to achieve what i need (maybe something similar to "Add control point" on a spline?

or maybe by ctrl-clicking on the leader to add another break? or just always having a "middle" grip that can be dragged out to make a new elbow (but I can imagine that might get hard to manage for short segments, unless you make sure that the existing elbow grip ALWAYS takes precedence over the middle/new-elbow grip to avoid accidentally making a bunch of elbows).

Currently, we have to get really creative with putting the text on the left side when needed (to get a 2nd elbow from the text width), or by right-justifying one-line text.

Many times I need a tag to be placed in a specific orientation and to achieve this 2 break points would allow me to do so. Also, the ability to make a leader a spline for visual aesthetics would be amazing.

Very often, we would like to add more than one elbow to a leader -- currently, there is only one, and since Revit is so random about where the leader is attached (on annotation), we usually have to use the single elbow to "fake in" and use the first elbow point to connect from where Revit has decided to put that leader and where we wish it really was.  AutoCAD has long had an unlimited number of bend points.  Talk to each other?

Allow users to add multiple vertices to a leader, similar to AutoCAD. Some notes need more than one vertex/elbow to point where they need to go.

Agreed. This would be helpful.

Thanks @aaronBWC,

That's not actually what I'm trying to accomplish. I'm looking to add multiple elbows/vertices to a single leader, not to add multiple leaders. Using multiple vertices on a leader can de-congest a part of a drawing, greatly increasing the clarity. Thanks for the feedback though.

Right, yes, that would be helpful. I will remove my comment, as it confuses the original request.

Best,

Aaron

Great Idea, I've been wanting this for years. This would open more possibilities on where to place notes or tags and create better, more readable documents.

Let's make this happen.

Absolutely, more flexibility for leaders!

yes please thanks

You mean kindof like a leader with the geometry of a polyline, that would be awesome!

I miss this from AutoCAD, along with the first leader segment being fixed at 90°

I'd also add an option to use leaders like a tag, so the arrow is pinned to a model element, rather than just floating in the view.

Please yes! My mecanical plans feel weird without those!

I would add a better ellipse option too, you know, a complete one, but one at a time. I'll take more leader control point anytime.
