3 way switch circuits

3 way switch circuits

Add the ability to have more than one switch in a switch system to accommodate 3 and 4 way switch systems. The current lack of this ability in Revit is really astounding.

Three way switch systems are found in almost every single home and office of north america and most parts of the world. Why have you not done this yet? it is very simple. select light fixture, select 2 switches, done. it is 2018 why is this still an issue?

You should probably as 4-way switches as well.  At this point, smart switches with wifi and integrated dimming are very common in developed countries.  Should they be included by now too ?

Yes and at the same time, we need to improve and update electrical tools for Revit. Sometimes I’ve a feeling we have Revit MP not Revit MEP, if you know what I mean.

It is a little frustrating having students designing building systems and telling them that this software that has done so many other things right has completely dropped the ball with the electrical options.

It is 2020 and still the feature is not added (3-Way/4way sitch circuiting) where there are  a lots of other upgrading.Really frustrating for MEP modeler.Could someone from Aurtodesk may reply why or whats the reason behind not to update this very important feature?

Thanks,

Hi Folks,

I was addressed by a Knowledge network specialist about this issues on this room...

My problem is how to set up in a proper way a staircase or long corridor switch on Revit...

Apparently the Revit Team doesn't include this special way to connect light Switches ...

In the case that feature is not included, I am wondering if we can request to Revit Group To include it...

Also to make public a temporary procedure to solve it

I including  a pic in order to be more clear on it

Thanks in advance

Feels like the people who decide what features revit should have don't actually use the software in practice themselves. There's still a lot a manual work required to account for missing key functions. @kimberly_fuhrman-jones

@matt.barnett72U83 ,

Thank you for the feedback. I've let the team know.

three-way switching was required by the NEC back in 1923 for stairwells, 3-way lamps have been around since at least 1902. You'd think that something that is in most every residential home would be covered in Revit.

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones is there any update to including this basic function into Revit?

Right on all counts. I never got any reply from Autodesk.

From our product team - this is something that is part of a bigger-picture improvement that is captured in this Revit Public Roadmap card. Please add your votes and comments there, also!
