I have a linked structural model which will not stay room bounding. The link type parameter has the "room bounding" box checked but the link does not properly bound the rooms. The individual elements within the linked model also show the "room bounding" parameter box checked. We are constantly getting warnings that rooms are in the same enclosed region or not enclosed due to columns and foundation walls losing the bounding properties.
We can edit the link room bounding parameter by toggling it off/on to reset the bounding properties, but this is only a temporary fix. Periodically it will lose the room bounding during synchronizing or reload latest. I've since removed and reloaded the linked model, but this only temporarily fixed the problem similar to toggling the room bounding box on/off.
We recently upgraded from Revit 2016 to 2017 in C4R which is when this issues started.
Does anyone know of a fix for this issue? Any thoughts on what might be causing it?
Thank you,
Tim

Hi Tim,
I have seen this happen in some cases. I don't know if it's necessarily related to C4R but perhaps with Structural columns and worksharing in general.
When the room bounding property is lost, try changing the Level of Detail of the view to fine/then course (or vice versa).
Can you post a screenshot of the view?
Is the Structural Link getting overwritten periodically as you get updates from the structural engineer? or are they working live in C4R as well?
Thank you and looking forward to your reply.

Hi Tim,
We also have the same issue you came across with the room bounding of the structural model falling out, we are using C4R on Revit 2015, did you figure out what is causing the issue?

I have been experiencing the same problem. The other proposed solutions did not work, but moving the Structural model slightly, then back into position solved it for me. I am working in C4R 2016

We are experiencing the same problem on C4R projects only, with linked Architecture models suddenly not bounding the rooms. The problem usually occurs after a sync.
We have anecdotal evidence that it's a C4R problem.
I fix it on a per level basis by changing the Computation Height by 1mm then putting it back. I think this is safer than moving the model.

Any solution from the Autodesk side of things here? We too are having this issue in Revit 2017 using C4R where our shell and core Arch model is no longer room bounding which is causing a host of issues for scheduled items within rooms. We have tried all the temporary workarounds but the issue seems to reappear when people sync. Attached is a journal. Help with this would be appreciated.

Our workaround, which is not a viable solution long term, is to select the link which was bounding, edit type, uncheck the room bounding checkbox, apply, and then recheck it. Then sync.
The challenge has been for even experienced users is that the room bounding checkbox appears checked so they generally move on and don't bother to uncheck it and then re-check it, which is what "fixes it".
Autodesk, this seems like something with the C4R service, thoughts, comments?

We have had to uncheck and check the room bounding box and that seems to work most of the time.
Seems to work most by going to a section and selecting the structural model and edit type. Then uncheck and check the room bounding box. Then save.

This is happening to us between 2 architectural models (core/shell and an interior fitup model) in 2018.3 C4R. This is destroying our workflow. If this is an issue for what looks to be over 2 years, why has Autodesk not responded? Or am I missing other forums where they DO address the issue?

This problem has been dragging on for years.
Its costing us money & is a major impediment to using the Revit database as intended.
Is there any kind of a fix on the horizon???

Still having the same issue. Doesn't happen on every project, but when it does, it's a giant pain. I've never run into this on anything other than projects that are hosted on C4R. Really makes me start to question Cloud Based Services in general.
I've been dealing with this issue since 2014. This is getting a little ridiculous. Please fix baseline issues before adding more "Features" that only tend to create more issues.

This happens often to me as well. The linked model says it is room bounding but the rooms are not being bound and all the rooms on the building perimeter say Not Enclosed. Checking the box to make it not room bounding and hitting okay and then going back into the links edit type properties and checking the box to make it room bounding again seems to work. This fixed it but this is an annoying problem to have.

Hi all,
Thanks for posting! While we've had a few reports of this problem and obviously there are a number of people experiencing it here, we haven't been able to get our hands on a reproducible case so that we can figure out what's going on. We're thinking it may be project/model specific so if you have a dataset (including all links) that this regularly happens to, would you be willing to send it our way? We'll try to do our best to break it same way to get this fixed once and for all. PM me if you're interested.
Thanks,
Sasha
