dear all
I have uselessly tried to understand how to use softwares and notepad to create a custom pattern for Revit, to no avail.
I urgently need to use a herringbone pattern for a floor, designed as follows:
- vertical tile: 1200 mm x 300 mm
- horizontal tile: 600 mm x 300 mm
- Angles 0° and 90°
Each short side of any horizontal tile is common with a part of the long side of a vertical tile.
I.e. every short tile is "contained" within two long tiles, which "touch" the short side of the short tile. This way, despite the tiles have different lengths, they form a symmetrical herringbone pattern.
I hope I could explain what I mean but please see the picture.
Would anyone please give me the .pat definition for this design?
Thanks a lot
E

dear Barthbradley
thank you, but I have tried Pattycake. I hoped there was a predefined pattern I could use, but no.
As for customizing or creating one, I tried and I must be stupid but I just cannot understand....
Thank you syman2000
I had read the thread you mentioned - thank you - before posting my request for help.
But I really miss to understand how I could get the result I need, from there. I don't find any reference to a herringbone made with tiles having different size, as per the picture I attached.
Indeed I have tried and read all I could, before posting here.
@barthbradley thanks for the ping 🙌
@swan42PNA Hey! Thanks for trying us out 🤗 You are correct, we do not have a pre-defined template for this. We do offer a 'simple' herringbone template that you can use for free, but both boards need to be the same length.
What you need to use for this is our Draw-In-Web feature... which is also why we haven't developed a template for this specific pattern style (no need). Draw-In-Web works for a lot of patterns 😎
To do this, you find the spot where it modulates itself. I used Illustrator quick for this guy:

Here is a link that you can download for the pattern. Hopefully this is what you need. Put that fire out 👨🚒👨🚒👨🚒👨🚒👨🚒
To create the hatch, you want visualized it and get the square to 1x1
Once you get the shape, then you use the Pattycake to put in those lines or use the AutoCAD lisp https://cadtips.cadalyst.com/patterns/hatch-maker
Once you are done, you can add those hatch to Revit. See attached
As usual, a plain-butted herringbone fill can easily be represented with just two elements:

dear gentlemen
I accepted the solution I went for - it worked perfectly - but I appreciated all solutions, and I thank everyone who helped me.
Thank you so much
