Revit does not recognize my recent Sync

Hi all,

We are having an issue with a model in Revit 2017.  The problem is when we go and synchronize with the central model, then click the relinquish all mine, we get the warning saying "Revit cannot relinquish the changed elements because the project has not been saved.  You must first synchronize your changes with the central model before you can relinquish changed elements, or close the file without saving."

Also, when we are done working on the file and sync, when closing the file we are asked if we want to sync with central.

It seems that when we sync, the elements are saved to the central so we are not losing any work but Revit does not seem to recognize that we just did sync the files.

Anyone else come across this problem before?

Hi @Anonymous

From parsing your journal, Your current build 20171027_0315 requires an update 2017.2.3

Updates required:

Errors found and resolution:

  • 7803: Element is too small on the screen error - see resolution HERE
  • 42758: ' 0:< The routing solution failed because there is no default fitting type specified or the fitting cannot be found in the project. Ensure the fitting is loaded in the project and try again.
44787: ' 0:< The routing solution failed because there is no default fitting type specified or the fitting cannot be found in the project. Ensure the fitting is loaded in the project and try again.
45394: ' 0:< The routing solution failed because there is no default fitting type specified or the fitting cannot be found in the project. Ensure the fitting is loaded in the project and try again.
  • For the routing solution error: check your pipe preferences and make sure there are proper fittings loaded.Click on a pipe, go to type properties, and click on "Routing Preferences". Then make sure you have families selected for each fitting type. You can click on Load Family if you need to add fittings.
  • None of the created elements are visible in Floor Plan: ELECTRICAL SITE PLAN View. See article for resolution
  • 94650:  ' 0:< There are not enough slots available on panel: 9-P1 for a circuit to be added.  Please increase the maximum number of single pole breakers to be greater than 42 or set it to 0.
  • Also, user jtarvin has to resave elements and relinquish before you reload latest and try syncing again.

Please try the above resolutions and let me know if you are able to sync successfully.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question. Kudos welcome!

Hi Viveka,

In looking at your last response to @nhay.IEG I have checked the updates you listed and I am up to date with everything but still have an issue with a file that does not realize a synchronization just occurred.  Can I send you the journal file or even the Revit file to review and see where this problem stems from?

Best,

Howard

This problem was never resolved. The solutions suggested by Viveka did not remove the error.
My syncs still go through, but Revit does not acknowledge them. I've decided to just deal with it on this one project, and make sure I don't duplicate the file for another.

Hi,

Is there now a solution for this issue? This is the first time I cant solve this issue because my usual solution to this is just creating new "Central File" but unfortunately nothing happened.

I did all the things that I've know just to figure this out.

Hi @hebloom

Please create a separate post for your issue, share the link here and I will follow up from there.

I will require more details to investigate further once we've set up your case.

Hi @Anonymous

I'm sorry to hear that your issue is unresolved and that the recommendations didn't help. You are welcome to upload your latest journals and extract diagnostic files from a collector utility that I can share.

This will enable me to investigate further.

Let me know and I send you more information and we can continue on this thread for your issue.

Hi @Anonymous

As suggested for @hebloom, please create a new post and we can tackle your case separately.

Post the link here and I can share a private folder for you to send me files for further diagnosis.

Looking forward to your reply update.

We have the same issue with a 2018.3.1 project stuck in a Sync, Can't relinquish, Sync, Can't rel... cycle. - it does close through the File button (formerly R App button), but this is a workaround.

I believe this is a random glitch because the other 50+ workshared projects have no problem.

I'm also a proponent of sync with settings, in combination with Relinquish All Mine, as I've seen multiple instances where the later is necessary to relinquish everything.

We've deleted every user's local and cleared their temp folders, and created an audited, detached central.

Nothing seems to work except ignore the warning, which is not a good practice.

To add to my earlier reply, short story: when I eliminated/replaced a corrupt family normal project sync behavior returned.

Longer version, I recently worked on a project file that would prompt to Sync when closing the file even immediately after doing so. I just coped with it by using File > Close > Sync and Revit would close each time.

Then I tried to place a door and Revit crashed. Got the project open again and tried to place the door again, assuming it was just a random crash. It crashed again. Once Revit was running again I tried to open the family in the library, it opened fine.

I opened the project again and this time I tried to Save the door family out of the project, it crashed again. I created a dummy door to replace all the instances (there were a lot and many types) of this family in the project. Once the door and its types were substituted I purged the Revit crashing door family.

I added the types to the library version of the door and loaded it back into the project, swapped out the dummy placeholders. As soon as that corrupt family was out of the project the normal sync behavior returned.

Coincidentally, another project popped up with the sync issue and I went straight to Save Library and noted the families that generated errors while it was running. I eliminated the ones that were generating errors in a Detached copy of the project and normal syncing returned.

Correlation isn't causation but two projects have had the issue resolved by dealing with troublesome loaded families.

I am having the same issue.  All users are having this issue with the model.  I've tried to create a new central from the local file to no avail.  Could I send the log file to you?  Where do I find the log files?  (BTW I am using Revit 2018.)
