Revit does not recognize my recent Sync

Hi all,

We are having an issue with a model in Revit 2017.  The problem is when we go and synchronize with the central model, then click the relinquish all mine, we get the warning saying "Revit cannot relinquish the changed elements because the project has not been saved.  You must first synchronize your changes with the central model before you can relinquish changed elements, or close the file without saving."

Also, when we are done working on the file and sync, when closing the file we are asked if we want to sync with central.

It seems that when we sync, the elements are saved to the central so we are not losing any work but Revit does not seem to recognize that we just did sync the files.

Anyone else come across this problem before?

Howard

If you are confident that all your local changes are incorporated into the Central model, have you tried creating a fresh Local copy and see if this resolves it?

Kind regards,
Ian

The first issue regarding Relinquish All Mine. That only works if you haven't made any changes to the project file. A change might seem inconsequential to the user but to a computer (Revit) it is still regarded as a change. You can close a file without saving/syncing and Revit will ask if you want to relinquish elements or retain them. If the user really didn't make any changes then closing the file and choosing the top option presented to relinquish elements is appropriate.

When a change is made Revit expects us to synchronize that change. I recommend people ONLY use the Synchronize and Modify Settings option. It presents us with a dialog and we can confirm that all relevant check boxes are checked. When we use the Synchronize Now option that does NOT present us with a dialog AND it does NOT relinquish User-Created worksets. Only Synchronize and Modify Settings allows us to do that.

Generally, when we close a file and a prompt warns us to synchronize then something has changed in the file since the previous successful sync was done, regardless how recently that happened. It should only do that because it is necessary. Don't disregard it. For example, during the course of syncing Revit may have added something to your Local File that changes it beyond your own changes.

If you do end up in a loop of Sync > must Sync > Sync > must sync... then another way to approach the matter is to chose File (Application menu) > Close. You'll get a prompt to sync and doing so will be followed by Revit closing the project. If you can't close the project you've got something the Autodesk Support staff really needs to see.

There seems to be a slight recurring theme lately about Revit prompting users to sync after syncing already but I haven't seen any evidence that suggests it is a bug or Revit issue yet. There are a lot of variables so I think more evidence and clues are necessary to come to that conclusion from where I sit.

You might want to check your latest local to see how complete it is - and then create a new central model.

Hi @Anonymous

Can you confirm if you have the updates installed for your Revit version?

Is this user specific? Send us that model as well and we can test if for corrupt elements.
