Revit 2020 in Viewer Mode ?

I was asked by the Twitter support team to post it here, so here goes.

I downloaded and installed Revit 2020 today and as every year I am excited to see the new stuff. But the first ting I noticed is that I can not save a project or a family and Revit pops up with a message telling me I'm in Viewer Mode (see attached image). I already tried logging out and back in again and of course rebooted my workstation as well.

 

Any idea what going on?

Still, doesn't help my 2019.2 stuck in viewer mode.

@Anonymous the hot fix is for Revit 2020, not 2019.

Autodesk Desktop App.PNG

Is there another place to access the Hotfix? When I open the Autodesk Desktop App, the window opens but never loads anything. I'm running Windows on Bootcamp, if that matters. 

 

I was able to find it from my account online.

SO I uninstalled 2019.2 and reinstalled it and now it works.

Shows up for me as the most recent updates at manage.autodesk.com.

Do you see any updates?  You may not have access to program updates if you don't.

@Anonymous it's been out for a while now (since mid-April). Check the Desktop App for the 2020.0.1 update.

If you are installing from Autodesk Desktop App, the Revit 2020.0.1 hotfix should be applied automatically when Revit 2020 is installed.  Unless you have disabled the "Always install the latest product updates at the same time" option within ADA settings.

I purchased subscription to Revit LT.  It is permanently in VIEWER MODE.  I am unable to be productive with this software until this is resolved.  Side question:  Why even have a viewer?  Other Autodesk products are inaccessible without valid license or may be looked at with separate "viewer" utility.

Your screenshot shows that you don't have the 2020.0.1 hotfix installed you. You still have the initial release installed.

Hello - For this fix installation will I have to exit my current revit session?  I'm SO ANGRY right now that I might have lost two days worth of work when I thought it was auto saving in the background just to find out that YOUR RIDICULOUS PROGRAM switched me to Viewer Mode without my knowledge!!  There better be a way to recover ALL OF THIS WORK or there better be some sort of compensation for YOUR LACK OF REGARD for your user's time, energy, and use of a product that should function properly!  You have horrible customer service as well; In emergency situations you cannot speak to the Support Team directly, in real time, to try for a solution.  You have to schedule something which is extremely inconvenient.

Hi I download Revit 2019 on Jan29, and it worked really well. Today, Feb 2, I open Revit and it said revit in 2019.2 is in viewer mode. I followed the link : https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

and did step 1,2,3,4. Restart my computer. And I also installed all revit updates, still not working.

Please help…….
