Revit 2020 freezes when exporting to dwg

When I try to export to a dwg, Revit freezes and the interface turns light grey. Anybody have a fix or know what's causing this?

Hi, sorry for the month long delay on someone responding to you.  If you are still running into this issue can you answer a few questions?

Is this new to 2020? As in you upgraded from 2019 and it didn't used to happen. Do you have any linked DWG's in the file?

Chances are there is something in the model causing havoc or something in that particular view.

I would be happy to help if you are still stuck

Yes, this is a new issue that occured when I upgraded to 2020. I didn't
have this problem with 2019. It happens in simple and complex revit files
and it it's inconsistent, so there are times when it works and other times
when it doesn't. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Thank you for the update on this @filip.kabelis!

Could you attach a journal file recorded when the hang occurred?

So i've tried these workarounds - none of these helped. I've setup new central file with detaching and auditing + compact central. I've found these lines in journal and just deleted and recreated these views, with the same view template, deleted all the .dwg imports from file and from view template - still it freezes at 25%

Ultimately only changing View Template did help - seems that I need to recreate it too

I am just encountering the same thing.  I just upgraded from 2021LT to 2021.  I currently have both programs on my computer, and wonder if they are fighting.  I can no longer export form my LT either.

I have 2021LT on my laptop, and that exports fine.

As stated above once you choose how you want it to export, menus turn grey, and nothing happens.  have to CntrlAltDel to get rid of program.

Hi All,

Reading through these messages it looks like we have a few different issues that are resulting in the same problem.

@filip.kabelis thank you for the journal, it looks like Revit is having issues finding custom pattern "_beton zbrojony_2_0" do you know where that pattern is applied? Can you try removing it from the surface and see if the issue resolves itself?

@Anonymous can you send a screen shot of what is happening?  We have seen issues after windows after windows updates that sounds a little like this.

Is anyone here able to reproduce this over and over again? The original post mentioned the issue being sporadic, and for the engineering team, those can extremely difficult and time consuming to figure out. I would like to try and focus on the issues that are reproducible first.

Thank you all for your patients, hopefully we can get this issues figured out.

So I did change this custom hatch to another, and recreated these view templates to similar to the one deleted. Now it seems that it gets stuck on another 2 custom hatches, as it leaves in the export folder one 18KB .dwg file and two 1KB autocad hatch pattern files...

I don't know what to do to make it work, and I need these custom patterns working.

@Anonymous

Can you attach a journal?  Ideally the journal is from a clean session.  Just launch Revit, open project, attempt to export.  let it hang for a minute or so, then kill it.  That journal will hopefully have some good info.

Also, do you have the same addins installed on both laptop/desktop?

Thanks
