Measurement in 3D model

Hi, I want measure as per attached photo (the 3D surface and model line). I know this is sample thing. But i dont get snap for 3D surface although i try to on snap . Anyone pls suggest me why i dont get it. Thanks.

Are you not able to get the measurement in plan view?  Another option would be to place a dimension, I was able to place a dimension but I could not use the distance command at all in 3d.

• is Model Line  placed in Plane parallel to the Plane on which is placed the Extruded Model?
• is the Model Line parallel with the Edge (Vertical Face) of the Solid ? If not , you can not put dimension unless you do it by clicking an End Point from the Model Line and the the Vertical Face of the Solid,
• but , maybe the Solid is not a vertical Extrusion but a tapered form. In this case , draw a vertical Reference plane on the side of it snapping on the edge, and you will be able to dimension and measure

Do you know how to set the Work Plane? That's your first step.

Hi, i already tried by setting up work plane. not settle yet. I think the main problem is that i m trying to measure solid surface's edge of cross section. is it possible to get snap solid surface's edge of cross section?Thanks.

Yes the model line is parallel with edge and the solid is extrusion with tapered form. i tried with vertical reference plan but didnt get yet. For your reference, you can find revit file from the link. Thanks.
