Issue with not placed instances

I have an issue where the instances of a family type in the project are coming up 43(after purging all the unused model groups) but when I try to delete the family type it says '74 instances of the family are deleted'. Not sure how to find those extra 31 instances. we have purged everything, no design options, and no nested families in the project. Not sure if anyone came across anything like this in past. thanks

Create a schedule and use highlight elements in view to find where they are.

Hi, It only scheduled 43 windows the total number of placed instances. But when I try to delete the family, it says deleting 74 instances.

What warnings does your model have?

Hi,

Is the family shared?, then it could be nested in other families,  2 possible situations then:

A. The host family isn't used (but as you state everything is purged, so this is less likely)

B. The family is used as a nested family but set to invisible in the host family, so can't be purged.

Or, it may be used as a Legend component?

Hi, none of the window families that I have got are being nested and shared. Just to confirm all 43 families are part of a total of 3 groups, I know revit counts instances(while deleting family from the project) when there is a purgeable group in the project. i did a quick exercise e.g., I deleted a group (which had 11 windows in it) from the model which gave me a count of 63, and then purged the model and it came down to 52. I hope that makes sense.

Groups can have excluded elements which means Revit won't count them in schedules (just number of included) but they are still in the database (actual number).
