Hello – I was wondering if someone had a good workflow in Revit for this. I’ve searched the forums but do not see thoughts on this:
We have a project that has an existing Revit model built. We have set up several design options in the model for options the client wanted to see – both renovations and additions to the building. Now one of these options is going forward, but I’m not sure (of course) that it will be the final option that will be built. To this point we have shown just the new renovation/addition work, but now I need to demo the walls, doors, roofs, etc. that will go away in this latest option, to make it work with new renovations and addition. However, I feel this will possibly harm us later if they want to go with a different option. I realize that at that point I can just turn the demoed elements back to “existing”, but typically I’ve had to split walls, roof, and other elements where there is a transition from existing to new. We’ve experienced this on other projects, where down the road (as changes are made to new vs. existing) you end up with all these parts of walls, etc. And another factor – we want to use this “base” existing model for other projects (like a re-roof project) and not have any of the walls, etc. be demoed.
Seems like I might need multiple copies of the “existing” base model for our entire workflow?
Thanks for any help!
