Grid lines disappeared in 1 section but are visible in another section!

Hi,

I'm making a school project and I have 3 sections. In 2 sections I have all the grid lines and in one of the sections all the grid lines disappeared or are not visible. I already did all the things that I found in the internet, but I can't find the error. Could you please help me?

You don't say what you tried from the internet, so we don't really know what you've already tried. It's more than likely that the grid lines do not extend into the view range of your section.  Check the position of your section in a plan view and adjust them into the range.

Hi Tim.

I checked the grid lines in floor plan/site plan and all are passing the section lines.

I checked also the view graphic - annotation - grid square ticked.

I checked the elevations and all the levels and grids are passing through.

I checked reveal hidden elements and nothing there.

I checked hide elements and nothing.

I checked Collaborate - worksheets - shared levels and grids - ticked box yes

I checked view range in plan - unlimited.

I've now inserted new sections and new elevations and the grid lines don't appear in this new opens!

Could you please assist?

Joao

In your section, try and remove the far clip and see if they appear.

In your plan, check that the grid lines are set to 3d.  If 2d, they might appear to extend to your section line but don't actually.

In the attched view, the grid line seems to cross through the section but is not visible in the section.  The circle on the line indicates where it would extend to in 3d.

Hi,

In the section I remove the far clip and the grids didn't appear.

In the plan I  put all the grid lines in 3d and nothing.

It is strange because the grid lines appear in 2 sections but not in any other sections, even the new ones that I create.

Is there anything else I can do to resolve this?

Cheers

Joao

You can also check in your VG that there are no filters overriding the grid visibility.

Try and move the section that doesn't show gridlines close to the section that does and see if they appear.  You might have to rotate it to align with the first section.  After, you can Undo to move the section back to it's original position.

I aligned the section without gridlines to the section that has gridlines and the gridlines appeared on the section that I wanted, but when I move or rotate the section the gridlines disappear again.

That will confirm that the grids don't extend into your section.  It would seem that the grids in one direction are showing but not in the other direction.  Note also that grid lines also have vertical extents.  Remove the crop region from your section so that you can check if they are perhaps above or below your view.

Hi,

The gridlines are all extended in site and floor plans and don't appear in the section that I'm working.

Note: I'm using REVIT 2021

Did you check the vertical extents?

Try this - move your sectio to where the grids are showing.  Open two view that show the plan and section.  Nudge your section sideways with the arrow keys until the grids disappear from the section.  This shows where your gridlines end in that view.

Hi

I tried to upload the file, but an error occurred: the file exceeds the maximum file size.

There is another alternative to send the file?

Cheers,

Joao

Hi Tim,

I check the vertical extents and tried to move the section with the plan and section view open but the gridlines in my section didn't appear.

I continue with the problem...

Cheers,

Joao

Select a grid line > right click > select all in project > right click > Maximize 3D extent.

Hi,

I selected one gridline in floor plan - right click - select all instances - in entire project - right click again and the option Maximise 3D extent is not available!

So some of your grids may be associated with scope box(s). Create a grid schedule, add Scope box filed and see. If you want to remove the association, select all grids and change Scope box to None, then you can have maximize 3D extent.

I created a scope box schedule and all it says None. I think I don't have any grid line associated to scope box.

Make a copy of your project and strip out the elements.  Leave just the grids and section markers.  Purge and resave the file.  You should be able to upload it.

Hi Tim,

I saved a copy of my project with just the grid lines and some section and 2 elevations.

Section A and the elevations are the most important to show the grid lines.

I have to many levels, it was my mistake from the beginning, that in this point I can't delete them because they are attached to a drawing.

When I change all the levels to 3d in one view doing some Maximize 3D extents, then I go to other view (elevation or section) the level length changes and the 3d changes to 2d again in some levels. So it was impossible to change all the levels to 3d.

I'm hoping you can help me.

Cheers

The section lines need to be perpendicular to the grids.  Align your section to one of the radiating gridlines (such as grid 2) and you will see the grids.
