Fence that displays Fence Linetype in Plan View

Hello,

I want a fence that shows a fence linetype/symbol in plan view and NOT the physical/literal fence from the top. Is there a way to do that? I do not want a separate linetype that I need to draw manually. I want to be able to draw the fence/railing that shows in 3D but in plan to show the symbol ---X---X--- or other symbol I specify.

If this is not possible (it should be IMO), then how do I create the line pattern? My second route would be to draw the fence as normal and then override the fence to show this line style.

I would also prefer not to use a curtain wall because I already have the fence created and do not want to have to recreate it as a curtain wall.

Thank you.

If you're using Railing for fencing, I'm thinking you could build it into the baluster family as a Nested Detail w/ Anno.  and then adjust the visibility settings for the baluster geometry.

...or heck, maybe just a symbolic linework in the baluster family.

Same idea as @barthbradley...but you can use a curtain wall where the panels are the lines and the mullions can be the fence posts.  Trick is getting the X for the post to show up properly for the scale of your view.

A Generic Annotation will scale. That's why I was saying a Detail Family w/ Anno.

Thank you, I haven't had a chance to try these out yet. I will let you know which one is what I was looking for.
