Hey,
I just come across something which is baffling me.
So here is an interesting problem. We have a building which the main part is managed in AutoCAD dwg files. The new building has been created in Revit. So I am pulling together master plans of the whole building. I have exported the dwg's from Revit and xref'd them into the AutoCAD plans. Which works fine might I add.
This is where the problem arises. If I then link the original drawing into the Revit model. It somehow brings both the master drawing and the xref into the model.
The AutoCAD drawings are old which we have been using for many years. The exported dwg's from Revit (2015) are in 2013 format. All linked drawings are overlaid and not attached.
Does anyone have any ideas why this may be happening?
Thanks
Gareth
Yep...that is how it works...if something is Xref'd into Autocad and the link is still within the same found path it will still grab it. Worked out great for me recently when our civil guy sent his site file with an image overlay included...I didn't have to do it myself as it brought in the image too. You should be able to turn off the links in VG unless you are using LT.
I know but it should work like AutoCAD does when you linked files in and they are overlaid and you reference that into another drawing it doesn't take that file in because it is overlaid.
I have put the idea forward in the ideas forum to see if it something that can be included.
