Contacting Autodesk Support

I get a notice that states "Data in file is corrupt and needs to be manually recovered. Pleased contact Autodesk support"." Yet there is no way to contact them.

How do I do this to recover and open this file?

Upload the file please, maybe I can do something for you.

There are many points of contact, Autodesk is a quality company with many users. They're crammed with support, your best bet is to share screenshots, errors, and lines of text with forum users like ourselves. A response from Autodesk may take up to two weeks.

Visit http://knowledge.autodesk.com/contactus

1. Select what we can help you with

2. Select appropriate subtopics from the pull-down menus

3. Select “I Still Need Help” and the option for Chat will appear

4. Click "Chat" button and you will be taken to the Live Chat

If you email support, allow 48 hours for a response. Weekends can delay response time further.

Good news and bad news.

The file in general is fine, an external reference is bad. So I'm trying to isolate the individual references, but Autodesk doesn't have an external reference manager like the one that comes with AutoCAD.

Your references as listed:

*307 BROAD RESIDENTIAL - ARCH - TB.rvt

*307 BROAD RESIDENTIAL - SHOR - TB.rvt

*307 UG_UT.rvt <--- I believe this one is the issue.

After isolation you would receive the working eternal files individually, and the broken one excluded. Allowing a good portion of the project to be recovered. If someone else could help me achieve this, it would be awesome.

Noticed a system date var. defaulted also. Which is most common when people are working on projects off corporate servers and managing external references, but not in all cases.

Being the fact I don't have an external reference manager, the task will take me a very long time. I'll continue working on it.

Hi,

Thank you for taking your time to write this in the forum,

There are various reasons for file corruption, it's a general thing with all kinds of files. However, there are some areas that are more common than others, such as:

  • Read/write failure to the storage media.
  • Program crashes (especially when writing data to the RVT model).
  • An add-in that modifies elements in ways not possible or desired through the normal UI.
  • Untested operations or series of operations (e.g. cancelling a synchronize, or using the Undo command after synchronizing).

Throughout the lifespan of Revit 2015 we have 14 updates where each one of them contributes to a functioning product. So if you haven't already, I would check that every single user is running the latest version and this applies to all our products - the Autodesk Desktop App will notify you every time there's a new update - it will be the same for whatever release you may be using.

Note: Updating will not correct already corrupt files.

As to you specific file, if you want I would be more than happy to go through the file and correct whatever might cause conflict.

I will just need you to confirm and I'll send you a link to a folder where you can upload your file.

In any case let me know how you would like to proceed, and if you consider my responds sufficient enough, please mark it as a solution.

Thanks again, have a great weekend,
