Room Tag Visibility for Multiple Phases

I have a project with three phases. New construction and Demo occurs for each phase. Rooms and room tags are placed by phase and I've created views and sheets by phase and filtered to match. All seems well. Except - we have a life safety plan that needs to show all phases (complete building) INCLUDING the room tags. I set the phase to the final Phase (Phase 3) and set the filter to "Complete," but none of the room tags show - except the rooms created in Phase 3. The rooms are present if you cycle through the phases in the Life Safety Plan, but how do I get all of the rooms tags (all phases) to show in the final phase (as a composite)? OR, can I - without a giant workaround? Thanks!

All tags are view specific so if you duplicate with detailing it will only include the annotation from the original view.

If all of the rooms still exist at the end of the project, you can copy the tags to the clipboard (from each phase in turn) and past aligned in the life safety view.

Thank you for responding. This is my first time to post a question, so, I struggled a little with how to word it; especially given the subject. Your suggestion works if the rooms are "present" in the view, but do to the phasing, the only "rooms" that show in the Life Safety plan are the phase I set for the view. In this case the final phase 3 rooms show, but not the 2nd and 1st phases. The rooms are in the model, but don't snow in the phase 3 view. If I create a new room, them I'm assuming I'm duplicating the room, but in a different phase, which will create a lot of other problems. Any other thoughts?

You can create a copy of the view, switch to another phase, turn off everything except Rooms and Room Tags, and place it on top of the FLS view on the same sheet.

If the rooms were never demolished and you have the phase filter set to show complete...they should all still be in the phase three view with the phase filter set to show complete....if they were demolished prior to phase three then you would likely have to set a phase filter that will still show the rooms...but I imagine that will make a mess of other things.

I am curious why you want to see the rooms from previous phases in the life safety plan...so perhaps a better question for me to ask is what are you trying to accomplish...there may be another way to approach this.

The Life Safety Plan is showing all phases of the project which include new construction and renovation in sequential phases. I am trying to see all of the room tags (i.e. the rooms too) for all three phases in the Life Safety plan as one composite plan. The phasing is our structuring of the documents for the sake of construction, the contractor and the owner, but the entire project will be in one set and submitted to codes at the same time. That's the reason for a composite LSP view. If we were issuing the phases as separate packages, it would probably take care of itself in that we could issue separate Life Safety plans for each package. Sorry, I feel like I'm not hitting the right phrasing.

Phase 1 view (new const) + Phase 2 view (renov) + Phase 3 view (new const) = composite life safety plan (Phase 1 + Phase 2 + Phase 3)

Rooms only exist in the Phase they were created in.  As soon as you switch to a different Phase, Rooms from any other Phases disappear.  You have to copy paste Rooms from one phase to another if you want them to show.

I will let OP clarify his need.  But normally, for renovation project, some Existing Room are untouched but they still need to show on the FLS plans for exiting, occupant load, departmental context and calculations.

I thought about that, but was concerned that I'd be duplicating the rooms; is that not the case?

If you want to show the actual existing Rooms in a new Phase then yes you will be duplicating the Rooms.  It is generally okay until you find out some existing Rooms are documented incorrectly then you will have to fix them multiple times (or copy and paste again).

If you only need to show the Room Tags of the existing Rooms on Sheets then overlaying views of different phases as I said earlier should work.

That's about what I figured. I had to do a similar thing to get existing room names to show on my Demolition plan sheets. I'm going to end up with a lot of views of just rooms and room names in order to deal with the phasing - so it goes. Thank you!

Thank you @ToanDN for correcting my comment about the rooms and phases...I had tested it but I most likely grabbed the room and tag when I tested the copy paste...or I was just having a no brainer moment 😃

My issue is that I'm trying to export .dwg file for an owner and I want it to be my last phase with all rooms labeled from all previous phases.  How do I get one view for exporting with every room labeled without duplicating rooms - I don't want to duplicate because we have different areas set up as a different phases (per owner request to accommodate an aggressive construction schedule) and work in any phase could still, and likely will, change during construction.  It would also be helpful to be able to do a final room schedule to help verify that all required spaces and areas are being accounted for.  (not necessary on small projects but would be very helpful on larger projects).

For example we have the site work on phase 1, the shell of the building on phase 2, most of the interior on phase 3, a leased portion on phase 4, another leased portion on phase 5, with potentially more phases coming as additional leases are negotiated.  I want a plan with all rooms tagged through all phases on one view for exporting to .dwg and for scheduling.

Export each phase to a separate drawing and xref them into one master drawing in AutoCAD. Next time when things update, export the views again to the same DWG files and the master drawing will update automatically.
