Can we add another node to a leader?

I sometimes need to point to specific things that are hard to point to with omly one bend or node in the leader or arrow. Can we add more nodes to those leaders or arrows?

After adding a text note to a drawing, you can add one or more leader lines to the note, using straight or arc leaders.

1. Select the text note.
2. To add leaders, click Modify | Text Notes tabFormat panel, and click the desired tool:
   • (Add Left Side Straight Leader)
   • (Add Right Side Straight Leader)
   • (Add Left Side Arc Leader)
   • (Add Right Side Arc Leader)
3. Click as many times as desired to place leaders.
   Tip: To convert a text note's leader to an arc leader, select the text note, and on the Properties palette, select Arc Leaders.
4. To remove the leader line that you added most recently, click Modify | Text Notes tabFormat panel (Remove Last Leader). Click as many times as desired. As you click, leader lines are removed in the order they were added

Thanks ykm2, however, I am trying to figure out if I can add another bend point in the leader or arrow.  Adding another leader or arrow is a different issue, that you explained very well.

I am still trying to figure out the initail question.

Can another "node" or bend point be added to a leader or arrow?

I don't think we can. I think leader lines are a hard coded bit of Revit programming. They aren't a family that we can edit. We can only change those options Revit makes available for us to change.

Oh I see what you mean. You are looking for something similar to the "Add vertex" option in AutoCAD leaders. Unfortunately, as mentioned chrisplyler, it is not possible currently in Revit, at least as far as I am aware.

Years late reply, but in case others come across this issue.

It seems there is no way to add additional nodes to text box leaders, but one work around is to use line based families to do the same thing.

One family that has and arrow head at one end, and a second one that has an embedded generic annotation family at one end of the line. The generic annotation family needs to have a label, or two, with instance parameters that allow you to enter your text. Connect the two line based families with regular detail lines. This allows you to draw more complex leader lines. 

See the attached families. 

Nice thing about using these families instead of text notes is that you can align them to things and specify distances you wan to move them.

I know this is old and, I'm working with AutoCAD/Advance Steel but, I have found a way to do what the OP is asking for:

1) Select the leader you wish to alter

2) Hover over the grip at the end with the arrow

3) Select Add Vertex

4) Move the arrow in the general direction you wish to go

5) Use the grips to manipulate the leader exactly as you need

Unfortunately I cannot repeat that. 

When I hover over the end of a leader in Revit,  it only says 'drag' 

Can you confirm that it works? and any extra steps or button presses? or leader style you used?

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't advanced steel based on AutoCAD, and isn't' this a forum for Revit?

I specifically was looking to create more advanced leaders of the style AutoCAD allows, with multiple parts, but it looks like Revit does not allow that.

I too must ask one to pardon my ignorance as I was unaware that Revit didn't work like AutoCad/Advance Steel. Looks like you Revit bunch are out of luck. My mistake.

I realize that this isn't really a solution, but experimenting, I found that Revit leaders had a potential extra vertex that I didn't think about.  if the text box isn't at the edge of the text, depending on how the text is aligned, you can have up to 3 apparent verticies (in AutoCAD parlence). I've always adjusted the first vertext so it's in line with the text but is appears that is a waste of time. The landing/hook will be at the edge of the text box.

In Revit we cannot add a vertex, but you can fake it with a detail line.
