CAD links multiplying by itself

Hi guys,

would really appreciate the help!

I have just few CAD links in the project but in the view templates there are a lot of multiplied links with the same name... I'm sure that noone have loaded them in. And this happened for the second time.

Last time in order to get rid of the links I had to use Dynamo to find all the links and delete at once. Unfortunately couldn't figure out how to select the links which I wanted to to delete, so I had delete everything.

Do you have any ideas why this happens and how to deal with it?

Thanks in advance for the help !

all the duplicates say "Cleaned" with what looks like a date after them. do you have any 3rd party Programs/Apps/Add-ins running in Revit?

its just our naming procedure -  i've left the names ending to show that they all identical. They did not get renamed, just multiplied

only a printer and one of the diroost plugins. Nothing special and  I believe the first time it happened the plugin was not even installed .

Did anyone copy those CAD links or place them into a group? Normally it should be doing that unless there is a custom view template to set those CAD layers to different color, lineweight and linestyle. If you have sample, I like to take a look.

nope, no one put them into any groups ... and the weirdest part that some links which I see in VG do not exist in the "manage links " and dynamo also cannot even find it in the project.

Unfortunately I cannot share this file, office policies.

The problem may lie in the CAD files. Are they cross referencing each other? Have they been properly converted for use in Revit?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

is this only happening in this one file or can  you duplicate it in other files?

  • if so, can you make a new Revit file with 4 walls and some dwg's linked to it showing the issue (the DWG's can just have a line/box/circle in it for reference)? then post the file with the DWG's showing the issue.

hmm, not sure what do you mean by "properly converted".  They were cleaned from unnecessary information and flying elements but that's basically it.

They they are not cross referencing each other - just some blocks inside might be shared

this happened to this file for the second time and I cannot force fake it in another file. Once I remove all links and re-link them it works fine again.

Not sure why you marked a solution.

If the files have anything within them that was created by a vertical product like Civil 3D or MEP, they need to be dummied down to vanilla AutoCAD.

that's the problem - I cannot purge them as i cannot see the multiplied once in the manage tab. And as for the other suggestion - all CAD files are links not imports

So u have delet them already but may they affect Line pattern  and Filled Region only you can handle this by deleting them manually if u haven't dynamo script

Dynamo finds only the main once, not the multiplied once - those I can delete only by deleting all links which isn't a solution now. But the main question is how did it happen? And if anyone has ever encountered the same issue?
