I'm trying to unfold my UV map and I keep getting an error that says "// Error: Unfold3D process error." How can I resolve this?

Its also fixed in Maya2020.2
Ryzen 3990x the same issue. Looks like it needs adaptation
My plug ins are loaded in Maya 2019. I am still having the error even after unchecking and checking again. My model has had all history deleted by type and on one layer. I created my own seams for unwrap but when I goto unfold it throws me the error. This has never happened before. I don't know about legacy but it works however I can not unfold the pieces and flatten them in any way that looks correct.
This is NOT fixed in 2020.2
I had to download that fix on page 2 of this forum overwriting the unwrap files.
Autodesk, this is a lame that you would let such an important part of your program (unfolding uvs) be totally disabled / broken for RYZEN users.
There are many many AMD Ryzen users out there.
Fix this problem. It make your software engineers look embarrassingly incompetent.
Hi!
@Anonymous
Have you set set the environment variable MAYA_USE_ALTERNATE_UNFOLD_SHIM = 1 ?
This is required for Maya 2020.2 with a Ryzen 3900x series CPU.
There clearly seems to be a Ryzen compatibility issue here. I'm also using a Ryzen 3950x. Had no problems before using a old Xeon. Doubt this will be fixed anytime soon sadly.
Unchecking the plugin does nothing.
It seems to only work on very simple geometry.
It is fixed in the latest updates.
Have you set the env variable?
Hi, I'm having the process error issue, using an AMD 5600X. Reloading the plugin doesn't do anything. OBJ exporting and re-importing the geometry also doesn't do anything. Using Maya 2019.3.1, all up to date.
Hi,
Did you try editing maya.env and adding "MAYA_USE_ALTERNATE_UNFOLD_SHIM = 1" as described in the other replies and in this knowledge base article?
