I'm trying to unfold my UV map and I keep getting an error that says "// Error: Unfold3D process error." How can I resolve this?

from a previous reply:
there is a solution... you need to edit maya.env and add this line.

"MAYA_USE_ALTERNATE_UNFOLD_SHIM = 1"

For people with the same problem. I find out the error comes from the uv shell with about 90 degree shape in the 3d mesh, try to cut more in the corner, even if this smooth rounded, when the degree is more than 90 overall will make the error, unfold shell by shell until all faces is unwraped, and sew the uv's  using Stitch Together tool until we archiving the desired result, hope it's help

Hi, I'm new to Maya, I'm using Maya LT for an assignment and I have this error everytime I use unfold, optimize or even layout. I'm not able to texture the asset properly and importing it in unity.

I tried your solution, but it doesn't help as Unfold3D is already enabled.

My version of the software is 2020.4, so I guess that the fix for version 2020.2 is already included, am I right?

@gretaricciolini @I’m using 2022.3 and had this error. Have you tried unchecking the Unfold3D plug-in and leaving it that way? For some reason this issue comes and goes for me in my project, but when I turn off the plug in, I no longer have the issue. Maybe it’ll work for you.

Autodesk is responsible for the feature working properly not Ryzen.

Well, maybe it might be useful for someone else in the future. I had the same problem while unfolding, it kept giving me the same error. So I did the check uncheck thing and it didn't work for me. So the next thing I did was I unfolded it using the Legacy option and it worked. And later I also found out that I didn't cut my mesh properly that's why I was getting that error..so when I fixed that it worked perfectly using Unfold3d option. So maybe next time anyone faces this problem..might try this
