Restoring saved shelves

Hello

I've created a customized shelf for myself and I know where the "save all shelves" option is so the only question I really have is how to restore the shelf/tools in the event that they have been deleted?

Thank you.

Hi @dersutton

Do you have the custom shelf in your prefs folder?

If its not there you may need to remake the shelf and then make sure the file is saved in your prefs folder.

Please let me know if anything changes!

Hi Sean

Sorry for the late reply.  I just found your email now.

As per my question I'm actually looking at my interface right now and I've gone into settings and selected "save all shelves" but I'm not being prompted as where to save them so I honestly can't say where they are.
I'd appreciate your input as to what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks

Derek

Hi @dersutton

If you navigate to Documents\maya\2018\prefs\shelves you should be able to see a list of the shelves in Maya including any custom shelves you may have.

Let me know if anything changes!

Hi Sean

I found the directory you mentioned.   Is the file called "MTKShelf"?   If so, then I located it.

Is that what I am to look for?

Thanks

Hi @dersutton

Your shelves folder can be found in your Prefs folder and should look something like this:

shelves.png

From here you can find the problem shelf and delete/restore them.

I'm currently using Maya 2016.    After looking at the Pref folder again I found a file called "shelf_custom".  I'm guessing that is the correct one?

Hi @dersutton

That sounds like it should be it.

Also, please make a back up of the prefs folder that way if anything goes wrong you can restore your settings!
