Hi @Anonymous and welcome to the community!

Are your GPU drivers the same as our certified hardware list?

You can find our certified hardware list here!

When you say discrete and optimus, is that a setting with your GPU?

If a driver change doesn't help, you could open your Maya.env file and add this line to it:

MAYA_OPENCL_IGNORE_DRIVER_VERSION = 1

Tried the maya.env thingy. didnt work.

Its a setting for the gpu. Not sure if its only exclusive for asus. Switching Between discrete and optimus mode, required restart. Currently using gtx 1060 max q

Hi @Anonymous

What specific driver version are you using?

Our officially supported driver for the 1060 is version  390.77.

If you aren't using that, please uninstall your current drivers and install version 390.77 which can be found here!

Hi @Anonymous

Is there a reason you are trying to work in discrete mode?

Its possible this is an issue with the GPU feature and not Maya itself.

Yea cause i normally use discrete mode, cause if i want to use maya i need to restart to change modes. Which is annoying. Is there a way to clean install the graphic driver for maya?

Hi @Anonymous

Nvidia has steps on rolling back drivers you can find here!

Option 1: Roll Back To Your Previous Driver:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Windows Vista: Click System and Maintenance and then System or simply System (in Classic view). Windows 7: Click System and Security and then System.
  4. In the left pane, click Device Manager
  5. Double-click on Display Adapters
  6. Double-click on your NVIDIA GPU
  7. Select the Driver Tab
  8. Click on Roll Back Driver

Option 2: Uninstall the Current Driver:

When you installed your current driver, if you first uninstalled the previous driver you won’t be able to roll back. In this case, follow the same steps that you previously used to uninstall your driver. Once complete, you can then download and re-install the recommended driver.

I think it might be Maya Installed in a different display adapter, thats why i cant open in Discrete mode. When i switch, its says switching display adapter.

Hi @Anonymous

Hmmm what you could do is check the back of your pc and see where you plugged in your display cable.

Sometimes a pc will come with your GPU and an onboard card. While plugging into the onboard card can work, it can also cause issues when you aren't properly connected directly to the gpu.

Hi @Anonymous

You could try disabling/uninstalling that.

This doesn't really sound like an issue with Maya more so an issue with your GPU and/or the software you're using with it when using optimus/discrete mode
