Im using Maya 2018 student version and whenever i try to load anything, blank scenes, full scenes and new scenes the program will simply not load and instead display a fatal error message in the output box. i have tried numerous methods to solve this including performing a clean uninstall/reinstall, altering the system environment, adding it to my nvidia control panel and finally attempting to install new drivers. None of them worked and now im at a loss, any help would be appreciated. the attached image is a screencap of the error.

Hello,
Same problem here... I downgraded my driver version to the 382.33, and reset the maya prefs folder, without success...
BTW, my graphic card is a GeForce GTX 1060.
A friend has the exact same config (Razer Blade), and Maya is running fine with a more recent version of the NVidia drivers (388.73).

Yes, but the problem remain the same.
Now I resetted my pc to defalt settings and try to reinstall as first programs.
Update:
Reset pc to factory settings;
Update GeForce Gtx1080 to 388.43 driver;
Launch as administrator Autodesk_Maya_2018_wi_en-US_setup_webinstall;
allow permission to pass Windows firewall;
launch Maya 2018 Students version and finally works.
Install Maya_2018_2_Update as administrator and works.

Hi @sean.heasley,
I'm getting the same fatal error when I open Maya. This happens in both Maya 2017 & Maya 2018.
System Configuration:
OS - Windows 10 x64
Intel Core i3 - 7100 3.90 GHz
RAM 4 Gb
Graphics Card - GeForce GT 1030
I've installed latest graphics drivers for GT 1030 - version 391.35, but the error still comes.
See screenshot:
I also tried to search whether my card is certified by autodesk or not!
but I did not find my graphics card from this document:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/sites/default/files/HardwareCertificationResults_Maya2018_v01a.pdf
I want to know, what is the solution to solve this fatal error?
Looking forward to your response.
Hi @Anonymous
Thanks for posting the video of your crash!
I saw that an Autodesk CER Error report popped up that you closed out of. When you get a chance, can you please fill out that form and let me know what the CER number is?
This will allow me to look up your crash in our log and I can try and narrow down your issue.
Hi @Anonymous
Your card isn't supported so it's possible that is why Maya won't launch on your machine. By chance are you getting the same error report seen in @Anonymous's video above? If so please fill out the report as well and let me know the CER number!

Hi @sean.heasley,
Yes, I'm facing same problem as @Anonymous, Fatal error dialog comes as I open Maya.
I just purchased my graphic card GT 1030 before 2 days.
Before I purchase graphics card, I've go through this post:
https://www.quora.com/Is-a-GeForce-GT1030-enough-for-Maya-and-3D-Max
At this point, what should I do to get rid of this error! Very bad situation!
Looking forward to your response.
Hi @Anonymous
What I meant was are you seeing this error report?
If so please fill it out and let me know what the CER Number is.
If you aren't receiving that error there's a few things you may want to try.
You'll want to make sure the GPU drivers are up to date for your 1030 gpu.
Steps to update your drivers can be found here!
You also may want to perform a clean uninstall/reinstall of Maya.
Also, please make sure you install and run Maya as an admin.
Let me know if anything changes!

Hi @sean.heasley,
Thanks for the response.
I glad to inform that 'fatal error' problem is solved.
I performed following steps:
1) I formatted the OS which was Windows 10 x64,
2) Cleaned my hard drive & made new partitions in HDD with Command prompt -
https://youtu.be/6FaDCq6z_U0?list=PLW5y-yS9toS1DWr-uoHW0CPtCUVwKt7ql
3) I installed Windows 8.1 x64
4) Update latest drivers - 391.35
5) Then installed Maya 2017.
Now, Maya 2017 is running fine. And I see that all drivers of graphics card GT 1030 are up to date.
Thank you for support.
Thanks,
Nikunj
Hi @sean.heasley,
I needed to clean entire HDD, bcoz I was getting error - 'windows cannot be installed to this disk the selected disk is of the gpt partition style'. so I thought to clean up everything on HDD.
But it may possible for other users that just format just C drive where current OS installed, and give a try for installing Windows 7/8/8.1 OS.
Replacing OS to windows 7/8/8.1 can be the fix to this fatal error.
Nikunj
