In AutoCAD you just type Join into the command line... Can you join lines together in Inventor too? It would be really nice to join lines together before offset...
The hardest thing to do is forgetting the way you work in Autocad.
If you have two lines collinear, that are somewhere in the middle connected, and each have the other end connected to the rest of the lines, just delete one of the two lines and connect the open end point to the other open end point by dragging the endpoint of the line or by using the coinsident constraint.
Also, the extend command can be used after deleting one of the lines to join it to the other line, provided they will intersect at some point.
Easiest way I know how is to you the trim command (Short Cut Key: X) then hold shift to extend/join the lines together.
Before you make a selection, look at the right mouse butten options, there is an option to select a loop, or just to select the line.
If lines are connected with coincident constraint, no join is needed in Inventor.
