write ipt to iam using ilogic rule

Is it possible to write parameters to an iam file from a part when the ipt doesn't exist in the assembly

Perhaps by defining the ipt file path and then its specific parameter I want to write to?

You can link the parameters from the ipt yo the assembly and visa versa. With the parameter box.

No i logic needed.

Unfortunately the code to make parameter links between files isn't available yet as far as I know.  The only workaround I found if I'm linking dimensions together is to make a sketch in the inserted component itself and make a reference dim.  As long as the same geometry exists in the file that's replacing the component, and therefore doesn't break the sketch geometry, then the copy design in the Vault won't break that link.  Linking or syncing Boolean or text isn't possible in Inventor yet.

If you want to use iLogic to copy parameters from one file to another, that is possible, but it won't update automatically, the parameters will stay the same until you run the same code again.
