Style Conflict

Right, so I've done all the things, read all the articles. I've updated all of my templates with the customized style libraries.

They open fine by themselves, but when I make a new part with them I get this conflict.

I just don't get it, I didn't change the color steel at all, and nothing shows up when I hit the update styles button until it's a new part, then Steel shows up.

I even tried updating the new part and saving it back as a template, still happens.

This link might explain the error message a bit more.

The update button I would use in conjunction with purge to ensure the file is complete free of non style library content if that is what you want. I generally make the change in the style library rather than the template then push the change down from on top, maybe you can do the top up approach as well. For certain styles I have seen them persist in the template when changed in the library and only by entering the template and switching to another style then back and update would the style sync with the library.

That is what I did as well, Updated the library and then pushed the changes out to all the other templates.

I've resaved, updated, purged and it still happens every time.

@Jay.HaleW4EVC

So the style in question refers to appearance library and color. I was able to replicate your error by adding a color to the template then saving. I changed the project appearance library to a library not containing the color added. Then I get the error. So the project doesn't have the correct appearance library active containing the color modified.

Hmmm, that's odd.

I haven't added any colors to the template.

I added materials, and changed their colors from plate to steel, using the Inventor material library, which is what the project file is pointed at.

Is there a way to get it to resolve the error?

I can only assume the steel in the template is different somehow to the Library. Maybe try and copy the steel from the library to the template and ensure there the same. Ensure the default template color is coming from your active library and not just in the document. These are tricky to get right. The messages are just annoying more than concerning.

I mostly update these without using the style editor by working with the color editor and library directly.

Do you use the same style library for each project file?

And are the styles all written back to the library from the templates?

Are the templates updated with the same styles in the library.

As far as I can tell color isn't a thing you can affect from the style library editor, just using the appearance manager.

Only have one project file

Changes were made to one template's styles editor, saved, and the rest of the templates were updated to match. Don't really think there's any other way to do it.
