Problem in inventor 2020. Content center crashing after modifying a group and publishing

Screen freezes and you have to close Inventor to carry on.

Can Autodesk apply a hot fix to fix this please?

If you republish square shape then it became new/different family. In this case Edit of existing frame could should such message. If you just place frame using FG, all should go fine. Try your square shape family simply by Place from Content Center. If you can place from CC then verify usage your family in Frame Generator

It means your iPart was not published successfully. Place from CC is first steps, it has to work without authorization. For Frame Generator, authoring is necessary. You need to make correct authoring, correct publish.

Beside that, I have no idea

Hi,

Sorry to ask things again!

I published an I part to my custom content center. So the I-part you still have available?

and it worked perfect. The Custom Content Center file worked fine I think?

I have taken the same base file and deleted an extrusion and then published the part again. What do you mean with the same base profile? Do you mean the I-part?
Did you re-publish it the the same Content Center family, or did you create a complete new one (new Content Center Family)? If you did not create a complete new one (new Content Center Family) that than i may have the solution!

When I go to insert the part it inventor is unable to create part. You mean the re-published Content Center Part?

Is there an issue with inventor in 2020 that would contribute to this.

Why would it work once and then not for a second time?

Please take a look at my questions and if you did re-publish the I-part again than i may have the solultion for it.

Looking forward to help you out.

Regards,

Arthur Knoors

OK,

I created an I Part based on a content center part.

This part is a piece of box.

All I did was create an I part of this box with two 45 deg opposite cuts (miter) on each end.

I created various sizes of this box and published it to our custom content center. Everything worked fine.

In order to same me time i then opened the I part i just publish and deleted one of the extruded cuts to delete one of the 45 deg cut (miter) on the end.

and then followed the same process to publish it.

it said it published ok but when you try and insert from content center it comes up with a message 'Unable to Create Component'

I have tried everything other than recreate the original part

I created an I Part based on a content center part. How did Create The i-part based on the Content center Part, how did you do that?

This part is a piece of box.

All I did was create an I part of this box with two 45 deg opposite cuts (miter) on each end.

I created various sizes of this box and published it to our custom content center. But you created new families for these Content Center files, or not?

Everything worked fine. With publishing it once. The second time goes wrong?

In order to same me time i then opened the I part i just publish and deleted (Don,t You mean delete and republish?) one of the extruded cuts to delete one of the 45 deg cut (miter) on the end. and then followed the same process to publish it.

it said it published ok but when you try and insert from content center it comes up with a message 'Unable to Create Component' I have tried everything other than recreate the original part

For my understanding are you always republishing the I-part or are you re-publishing the modified Content Center file?

And are you re-publising it because the file was wrong (you need a different shape!), because you needed to delete features?

Looking forward...

Arthur Knoors

correct,

I used a piece of box loaded from content center and put two miters on each end then created an I part from this with various sizes of box and then published it to my custom content center so I could pull in a piece of box the size and length i wanted wit two opposite miters on it.

It worked perfect.

But wont take the original I part I have already published and recreate a similar piece of box with only one miter.

Ok,

I am almost with you.

  1. You have created a I-part.ipt  (X001.ipt) from a Content Center File.
  2. You have published this to a Custom Content Center Family "shape X001"
  3. You have Modified the I-part.ipt  (X001.ipt) and published this to a Custom Content Center Family "shape X002".
  4. But you did not Modify the I-part.ipt  (X001.ipt) and re-published this to a Custom Content Center Family "shape X001" that already exist?

Re-publishing means for me overwriting the existing one, did you do that?

Ok,

Than my concerns about your method is not he case.

But I almost always use a different approach for this copy a Content Center file.

What I do is copying the Content Center family and than manually replace the template with the modified one.

actually the same as you are doing with the I-part.

With the difference that I don't need to publish twice and that I am editing the Content Center Template and NOT the I-part. which can lead into issues, as you may see now.

Hope this will help you a lot, otherwise please ask.

Why you cannot do that with the Content Center File (Template)?
