Automated offset planes

Hi,

I would like to be able to place a model in inventor and have a tool that automatically creates offset planes on every flat area with a default offset of zero. I was thinking that creating an add in would be best. Does anyone have any advice or code related to how I could achieve this? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Nathan

I indeed prefer creating a add-in.

Do you have any advice on how this add in would work? How could I use the API to automatically see faces and create these planes?

This will do the trick with i-logic:

Dim a As PartDocument = ThisDoc.Document
Dim b As PartComponentDefinition = a.ComponentDefinition
Dim c As SurfaceBody = b.SurfaceBodies.Item(1)
Dim wpl As WorkPlane

Dim f As Face
For Each f In c.Faces

	If f.SurfaceType = 5890 Then

		Try
		wpl = b.WorkPlanes.AddByPlaneAndOffset(f,0)

		Catch

		End Try

	End If
	Next
