It can happenin real lifeproductionto build acomponent as aweldedassemblyand performturning operations withexternal thread.InInventorthis is not possibleto replicate it, because thecommandto do external threads, intheweldment envirenments missing..Together with thecommandsextrude, revolve, etc., you canenter the commandthread?
I have a need to add threads in a sub-assebly and Inventor doesn't have a feature command to do so.
Example:
My Sub-Assembly consists of three piece parts of dissimilar materials that are pressed together. After pressing together, they are then placed back on the lathe and machined to the correct size, with one end having an external thread added to a hub.
Without having a thread shown in the drawing, the thread has to be manually placed and called out on the drawing. Frustrating to say the least.
Make it available in just an IAM also please. We have instances where we have a blank purchased (Pre cut to length) then pull it into an IAM and machine it (Not a weldment). Model it this way so the BOM is set up correctly to carry over to vault items.
I also need to add a thread feature in a weldment as well as as adding it to a purchased part. This is a VERY COMMON machining function and needs to be addressed.
