For making nice Remarks on a drawing, I want to Align my text better.
Can you make the next functions in the Text box (Format Text) :
Thanks in advance,
After much discussion in a different thread (which can be seen here) I think that Feature Representations would be a great idea, it would be similar to Positional Reps and View Representations. It would require the ability to create Feature Representations where a person could create a Feautre Representations for each stage (op number) of manufacturing the part where we can turn feature(s) on and off. Then you would have one model to maintain and you could either create multiple views or mutliple sheets to represent the stages of production. You would be able to easily follow through the Feature Representations to see the evolution of the part throught the Manufacturing process.
This would be a great for items like a shaft that gets features added to it for each Manufacturing Operation such as this example:
op-10: Cut Steel Blanks (Round stock cut to a specific length)
op-20: machine one end of shaft with a partial profile which takes into account the addition grind stock required for a future grind operation. and a center in one end.
op-30: flip part in the collet and the profile is finished on the second end along with second center
op-35: form roll threads on one end of shaft
op-40: heat treat
op-50: grind required diameters to finish sizes by mounting on centers
op-60: coating / plating
The above example shows the different stages of a shafts manufacturing process. each stage requires new features and diferences in diameters. some times a shaft or component has to be heat treated, and grind mutiple times, and each stage the diamemter will get smaller until the coating op which means the diametrs will have the thickness of what ever plating it is getting. The model needs to reflect these changes in order to drive dimensions correctly to ensure the stability of part creation.
When you in a drawing have a view that is aligned to an other view, I would wish I had the opportunity to align it to a second view. In other words, I would really like to have the ability to choose horizontal and vertical alignment in the same drawing view. The only choice you have when wanting to align a view that already is aligned, is to break that alignment.
This has been requested before in the discussion groups, but I think it needs revisiting as it has huge time saving potential. I often get instances of a pattern where a hole pattern is interupted somewhere with an odd spacing, then continues again with the first spacing, for instance:
The holes are all the same specs, and are all linear, but just need to adjust the spacing in the middle. Looking at the model I am wotking on now, I could use this functionality all over the place including things that I normally would have to fully model such as a set of four gusset plates that each have their own spacing. I would prefer to pattern them and control them via iLogic.
The same goes for circular pattern, allow both to have multiple pattern steps!
I want to explode my assy directly in the assembly environment without needing the ipn.
IPN has problems with big assemblies, harness , design views and in general it adds more files for me to manange.
No need to have IPN, do it in the assembly directly. It is so much simpler.
Currently if you want to go in both directions when creating a pattern you have to use the opposite direction header (i.e. if using Row, then use Column or vise versa). This is a trick the average user does not know. I think the bi-directional option should be simple and incoporated into this feature.
This idea is based on the following link.
When a component is selected in the graphics window, it is hightlighted in the browser. However, if the component is in an unexpanded browser folder it still can't be found. When a component is selected in the graphics window and is in an unexpanded folder, please hightlight the folder.
Here’s a thought for the "select other" function, could it be improved with the addition of keyboard shortcuts?
For example, when using the select other command, the typical workflow is:
1) Move mouse over objects
2) Keep mouse still
3) Wait a second or two (depending upon the time set in the options)
4) Move mouse to the pull down arrow (or use wheel mouse)
5) Select the item you want
How about using the left and right cursor keys to start the select other command and cycle through objects?
1) Move mouse over objects
2) Hit left or right and select other starts instantly and toggles through all items under the cursor.
3) Click mouse to select the item you want
The cursor keys are only used to pan around the screeen, and I don’t know anyone that uses them in this way. Select other could be instant, with no delay and would have no negative effect on the existing way that select other works.
The keys could even be mapped to spacemouse buttons which would then give a quicker select other method to those that use them.
I think it would be helpful if you could "Right Click" on a part in an assembly (in the modeling area) and choose to "Edit Constraints" from the right click menu. Maybe create a "Fly-Out" in the right click menu where one would hover or click on "Edit Constraints" and the fly-out would list all the constraints associated with that part. You could choose the constraint you want to edit, click on it and the constraint box would pop up.
I miss the ability to pattern multiple solid bodies at once in part modelling. Currently I have to make a new pattern for each solid i want to make a pattern of. And write in the parameters every time, instead of having to do it all at once.
When creating a sketch on a view in an IDW Drawing, you can Project geometry in the view but you cannot project workplanes, points or Origin planes, even if they are already included in the view. I usually use sketches on drawing views to set the location of Section views and I generally want the section view to be a set distance from the Origin- dimensioning to Origin planes would be the fastest and most secure way to do this. Please add the option to project construction geometry into these sketches.
i would like the review of getting a good internal & fully functional spell checker one of these days for inventor (ie one that is not looking for microsoft office programs to check for spelling).
with the functionality available to developers these days i would be surprised if it was impossible to achieve?
The default title block (and many custom title blocks) contain a SCALE entry. There is currently no way to associate the View Label Properties<SCALE> to the title block as an associative Property. The View Label Properties is not available when you are customizing the title block.
