Inventor Sketch Block add from Library

Inventor Sketch Block add from Library

Inventor Sketch Block Library.

There was a question on the Autodesk Inventor Forum, about a missing command that will add sketchblocks from a predefined block library into a Autodesk Inventor part.

The first part shown in the movie is the library part and is stored in the library folder.

This part contains of three blocks.

The second part shown in the movie is the normal part that contains of no blocks.

To add blocks from the library into the part, you use the command: "Get Block From Library", found in the Tools Ribbon of Inventor.

The same idea exists in the 2d drawing environment already, where you have the possibility to import or place sketched symbols into a drawing from a library drawing.

Maybe this is a good idea to implement in future releases of Inventor.

Hello,

It would be nice if there was a possibility to use the profile sketch from the structural shapes from the content center, or from the frame generator, to use them in the sketch environment of parts or sheetmetal parts. This would be useful for skeleton modeling

I would like to access the steel shape profiles that are available to frame generator in the part environment as sketch blocks.

I build my assemblies as multi-body parts first, so the frame generator does not work for this purpose.

It could either create the block based on the database and selection, or insert it from a library of blocks. I think the first method would be the most efficient.

I think a selection window like this one found at https://www.engineersedge.com/materials/aisc_structural_shapes/aisc_structural_shapes_viewer.htm, would make good sense.

YES! it is archaic to develop an assembly for a single part made out of C-Channel or Tube.

Just added the possibility to choose and change your library file to my Addin.

And to add Sketch Blocks to the library file, from the part file.

Wo kann ich dieses Tool herunterladen?

Where can I download this tool?

This add-in I have created for personal use only.

To make Autodesk aware that this may be a good addition for the software I have created this post and the related Idea in the Idea-station.

You can always contact me via PM to take a look what the possibilities are for sharing.

You can also write me a PM in German, because I can understand that too.

I ended up paying someone to develop a structural steel block library from the AISC steel shape database. You can find the files here.

Don't forget to include assembly sketches too, not just part sketches. This has been requested multiple times on these forums. Apparently there is some workflow difference in those according to johnsonshiue. (4th reply.)
