Replace model reference with opened part/assembly

Hi, I don't know about you guys but it would be nice if we could choose a new model reference with open part/assembly. The same way we can select part/assembly for our based view inside .idw.  Thanks

@MKE_Howard generally we provide two workflows to replace the reference in model environment.

1. Right-click the derive feature to replace the base component

2. Right-click the component in assembly to use Replace/Replace All

I am not clear about the exact workflow you request here. If possible, could you please provide more details here? Many thanks!

I was talking about inside the drawing environment. 

Let me put this in context. If I want to add a view inside my drawing, I have 2 options :

I can select a part that is already opened in Inventor or I can search inside my project for the part that I want:

Now if I want to replace this model reference, I can only search for my part but I can't select an opened part.

Sometimes I need to create 2 drawings for 2 similar parts. I create the first drawing, then copy it and I replace the model reference with the second part but I can't select it. I need to search for it inside my project.
