Improvements to sketch driven pattern

Improvements to sketch driven pattern

so when sketch driven pattern was add i was excited because it was long awaited and i knew the functionality would dramatically improve productivity. i was more excited by the fact that it had a face reference. So I was hoping to do with this feature was automate the process of constraining cross ties along a track but unfortunately this did not work

so what i believe is missing is a path or direction reference. As in the pattern feature it has direction but it does not have a face or tangent to curve option. Solidworks does within pattern where path and tangent to curve are both selectable to  achieve this. Now obviously I do not want to use a regular pattern in this case as the spacing is not the same.

Another great idea.

This would also help with this idea: "sketch driven pattern " idea by @eason_chou.

Sketch-driven patterns are intended for "patterns" of features whose occurrences are at irregular locations, as determined by surrounding geometry--more easily defined by placing points and using constraints. However, those features may still be along a path and need their orientation controlled relative to that path.

Just like in the other Idea (re-posting their picture for another example):

I ran into this limitation today. I really wish there were a way to orientate with sketch driven patterns.

Hi Andrew,

Have you tired iCopy for your case? It should be what you desired.

Xun.Zhang,

No, we are talking about patterns in the part environment.
