Autocentre first 2d sketch to the origin of the workplane

Autocentre first 2d sketch to the origin of the workplane

Hi I am an intermediate in Inventor Professional 2018 and most of time it is time consuming due to not automatically start first 2D sketch on the origin of the work plane. I think it will be better to add a new 2D sketch option so that it automatically started from the origin. If you like please vote me up.

Hi @Anonymous. Can you create a Screencast of the behavior you don't like? When I create my first Sketch in a Part, the Sketch origin is always placed at the Part origin...

Subsequent sketches sometimes are not (for example, Sketches created on Part faces), but you specifically said the "first" 2D sketch on a "workplane", and for me the origin of such a Sketch is always at the Part origin, as you're requesting.

Hi DRoam in this ideas I want to say that if Inventor added a new option for 2D sketch in applications option so that first sketch is autocatically centred to the origin because it help us to create extrude, revolve etc operations easy.Video url http://autode.sk/2uhOd84 .

Thanks very much for the video.

My question is, why not just create the circle coincident with the origin in the first place? Why would you break it into two steps as you did in the video (create it, then add the coincident constraint)? This is your very first sketch, so the origin point should stand out and be very easy to find. Just click the origin point as the start point for your circle, then give it the desired diameter.

You can do the same with a Rectangle using the Center Point Rectangle. And you an also vote to do the same with a line here: SolidWorks Feature Request - Midpoint Line

Wouldn't that be just as fast?

Hi DRoam thanks for your suggestion. I clearly understand what you want to say but if we got a new sketch option  for 2D sketch so that it starts from the origin like other options i.e. "Autoproject edges during curve creation", "Autoproject part origin on sketch create","Project objects as construction geometry" etc .These options can save a lot of time.So if we got a new sketch option so that it starts from the origin it also save a lot of time. Thanks a lot.I create a new screen cast for you URL http://autode.sk/2viFlfJ .

Hi SAIMUL

If I understand correctly the first sketch You create on a default XY, XZ or YZ plane? after  starting a new part/sheet metal part ??

If so, why not save that file with already premade and constrained sketch as THE default part template in the template folder, so when You start a new file/part using that new template it will already have a constrained sketch to the origin of the global coordinates. The sketch could be a circle or a square, mine is rectangular.

That's the first thing I did on my Installment.

Regards

In this video I just show you if we use primitives and other sketch options it saves a lot time.So if we got a new option for 2D sketch it also saves time for us. I NEVER WANT TO TEACH YOU. AM I CLEAR?
