When creating a slot, there is currently no option to make one of the slot's circular ends concentric with an existing circle or circular edge. Adding a Concentric option during the Slot command would greatly improve usability and reduce the need for additional sketch constraints after the slot is created. This enhancement would make the sketching workflow faster, more intuitive, and more efficient, especially when designing features that require precise alignment with existing circular geometry. Currently, when hovering over the endpoint of a line, the center of a circle, or any point in geometry with a coincident constraint applied, the glyph is the target when dragging. If you don't have the "display coincident constraints" setting on, the glyph snaps back into place afterward, accomplishing nothing. This is extremely annoying, as to actually drag the point, you have to either: Hide the constraints using the ribbon at the bottom of the screen, then unhide them afterward. Press Fn and then F7, then press Fn and F8 afterward, which either requires two hands or is an uncomfortable stretch. (Assuming you have function lock set to make the volume and media controls easy to press, which I think most people do) Very carefully align your cursor in the small area away from the point where it chooses to select the point and not the glyph.   Solution 1: The only two interactions with coincident glyphs require you to left-click or right-click on them first and do not involve dragging, so clicking and dragging should prioritize the point (unless your cursor is explicitly over the glyph if the "display coincident constraints" setting is on)   Solution 2: The glyphs are massive and would be easy to click on without this interaction working as it currently does. Interacting with the glyph should require you to hover over the glyph, rather than the point it's associated with.   I think the first solution is the most seamless, but to not upset any users, make this a global preference you can turn on (I argue it should be on by default, as it's only possibly an annoyance if you manually set the "display coincident constraints" setting on) As it stands, dragging points with the coincident constraint makes me want to pull my hair out.   Show More

I am working with Inventor's API. I have some Browser Node renaming logic to handle most objects in the browser. However, when coming across solid bodies that are composed of only suppressed features, the solid body's browser node is not exposed to the API. This makes it impossible to capture the Native Object (SurfaceBody in this case) so I can rename it. I also tried accessing the SurfaceBody objects through the PartDocument.ComponentDefinition, but I get the same results - they're just not part of the collection of SurfaceBodies. If I can see the node and rename it in Inventor's browser as a user, I feel I should be able to do the same from the API.   Please make changes to expose these. Thank you! Show More

I would like to suggest an option to center-align the Inventor ribbon tabs and menus, similar to the centered taskbar available in Windows 11. For users working on ultra-wide and super ultra-wide monitors, the current left-aligned ribbon layout forces frequently used commands and tabs to remain far from the center of the screen, where most modeling activity takes place. This increases mouse travel distance and can make the interface feel less ergonomic during long design sessions. A user-selectable option to center the ribbon tabs and command area would provide several benefits: Improved ergonomics on ultra-wide displays Reduced mouse movement between the graphics window and ribbon commands Better visual balance of the user interface A more modern and customizable workspace experience Ideally, this could be implemented as a simple setting allowing users to choose between: Left-aligned ribbon (current behavior) Center-aligned ribbon As ultra-wide monitors become increasingly common in engineering and CAD environments, this small UI enhancement could significantly improve daily usability for many Inventor users. In Inventor I use component/replace (replace all) to replace part/s in an assembly. So far so good. BUT why the position number changes?   Because the file name changes. OK - BUT Inventor knows the position number fpr Part 1 and Part 1 shall be replaced by Part 2, so it should be easy to do link the Position to the new part to not destroy the BoM. It is not needed to change the position# because the information of the BoM get updated by iProperties. Position number should stay as is. If a design engineer want to renumber, he can do that as usual, but by default Pos. 36 should stay 36 instead of adding new numbers at the end of the BoM and the must to renumber manually. Show More

When opening files, placing components, or inserting Content Center parts in Autodesk Inventor, the file browser always opens in a specific directory. Navigating to frequently used subfolders within a project often requires repeatedly clicking through the same folder structure. While Inventor already offers folder shortcuts, they are not very efficient in practice because they are displayed in a hierarchical tree that requires expanding multiple dropdowns before reaching the desired location. In large projects with many nested directories, this results in unnecessary clicks and slower workflows. Proposed Solution Add a "Recent Folders" section to the left side of the file browser, similar to the navigation panels found in Windows Explorer and many other professional applications. Just went to use the finish command for the first time, running it from an assembly, toggled on body selection and tried selecting the welds in my weldment assembly. Didn't work. I can select each weld face using the face selection, but that's too cumbersome for the amount of welds i have.   Please enable the selection of weld bodies in finish command. Show More

We work in soft metric, inch materials and dimensions on drawings, but metric fasteners.  Often when we are sketching while editing a part, we manually enter/override the dimension of something in an alternate unit than the part settings.  For example, I am making small slot for a metric part, I locate where I want it, then draw the slot, then override the slot diameter with "5mm" (or "5MM", thank you Autodesk!!!!!).     But when it shows the dimension in the sketch, it shows ".197".  Would be really nice if, when you enter a dimension MANUALLY, the sketch shows the overridden value in the units that it was manually entered as.  If I double click on the dimension, the edit box pops up with "5mm" so it knows what it is, but it should show "5mm" in the sketch when not editing it.  Looking at the sketch you don't know what dimensions were entered as an alternate unit dimension.   Show More

I was missing the ability in Autodesk Inventor to ground or fix all sketch entities when there are already a few of them constraint or via either geometric constraints or dimensional constraints. In this case the Inventor default command will give an error, when selecting the sketch entities via window selection.   With this add in and the command “Fix Constraint Plus +” this is now no issue anymore.   Maybe this is a good addition for future releases of Autodesk Inventor.   Show More

Comming from SW years ago, I'm still missing an option to skip modifying all application settings and just importing for example only file paths. Users prefer to make their own adjustments for how the software responds, and right now it's all or nothing. You will have to redo everything if anything changes on the company-defined side of things, or have to adjust al those paths manually. Split the export and import for example to each specific tab. Include EVERYTHING, so also custom color schemes etc. and move the iLogic settings also in there. (And move it to application settings instead of some half hidden seperate menu?!)  It should be easy to roll out settings and to pick what to import and what not.      Show More

Derived content—including model states—needs clearer identification. Specifically, the source model state should be appended to derived elements such as files, parameters, and feature names. This is especially important when working on large files with multiple configurations that must remain linked, where maintaining accurate references between files is critical for proper fitment and centralized fast design updates.   Currently, derived files have no meaningful identifiers, and derived features and parameters are labeled only with an incrementing “_#” suffix. These numbers are assigned based on the order of import rather than the order in which derives were created, which can result in seemingly random naming accidentally.   This lack of clarity makes it difficult to track derived content—particularly parameters, which are not visible in the feature tree. Over time, this also complicates maintenance and support, especially as production teams become more involved and original design intent is less well understood.     Show More

Hi, I have found when in a part sketch if I am placing the same geometry in different places I will usually go ctrl c ctrl v and it will create new dimensions and parameters for them, often I want them to be the same as the original. I propose that in the copy dialogue a tick box be added to derive dimensions or the dimension get replaced with an equal constraint to the original line. The deriving parameters seems like it would be more user friendly so you can easily change a dimension if you want to make it mostly the same but different in one dimension. So in the screen shot with dimension derived ticked the copy for d53 would have d<whatever the new dimension is> = d53 rather than 12mm. This would also be useful for if clipboard is ticked you could then paste it in a new sketch with the parameters driven.     Show More

Hallo, ich möchte gerne die Objekteigenschaften eines Factory Assets mit Inhalten aus den iProperties füllen und auch mit Hilfe der iLogic ändern je nach Konfiguration, wenn ich einzelne Parameter ändere. Wir geben dem Asset mit auf den Weg, ob es der bevorzugte Lieferant ist oder nicht. Dies schreiben wir in die iProperties. Diese Info wäre in der Factory Objekt Vorschau und bei den Factory Eigenschaften hilfreich, damit der Anwender direkt weiß, ob er das richtige Equipment wählt. Anbei ein Screenshot der FDS Umgebung und der iProperties des Assets. Der Zeichner setzt bei uns Assets ein und soll die bevorzugten Lieferanten verwenden. Diese Info schreiben wir in ein iPropertie Feld bereits herein und verarbeiten das. Wir möchten aber zusätzlich, dass es unter Factory-Objekt-Vorschau auch angezeigt wird. Die Werte dort sind aber Objekteigenschaften. Schön wäre es, wenn man die iProperties mit den Objekteigenschaften verknüpfen könnte. We totally understand the purpose and intent behind floating windows but there is one glaring problem.  It's very easy to quickly drag ALL your windows out of the main screen with one accidental mouse click and drag.  But to return them to the main screen, you have to drag them one at a time.  I am currently working on two sub-assemblies on a full machine, about a dozen parts and drawings, some sub-assemblies, have around two dozen tabs.  One little accidental drag click and they're ALL out of the main window.  Then a long time clicking each floating tab one at a time, dragging it back to the tab bar in the main window, then figuring out what order my tabs were in as I structure my tabs so drawings are beside parts, presentation files are beside assemblies which are beside drawings.     Either give us a way to disable floating windows, or give us a way to drag them ALL back as easily as we can drag them away.
