When you have a STEP file with holes and those holes have a tolerance, then for CAM users (Inventor HSM) it's easy to select a hole and create a diameter parameter without changing the hole size. (Picture from this Idea).
This is working at the moment but you can't add tolerances on it. (Would be great if that will be implemented soon.
This same behavior (Creating a parameter without entering a different value) is not working for a move (measure from). You have to change the dimension before the apply is available.
Please fix this so CAM users can create this dimension and placed a tolerance on it.
Unfortunately for me, it was necessary for manufacturing (InventorCAM) in 2017.
Now I switched over to Fusion 360 because of more manufacturing tools and better workflows.
But the way Direct Edit works within Inventor (Direct -> Move with option Automatic Blending) is what Fusion 360 still misses.
And YES I miss the tolerance option within Fusion 360.
Now I hope the Development team will add those missing to Fusion 360.
One thing I hope is with this functionality in Inventor, engineers will use it and make their engineering parts ready for manufacturing instead of trowing there crap over the wall.

This has been implemented within Autodesk Inventor 2023.1. Please review the Inventor 2023.1 What's New article here. For more information regarding how you may leverage the feature, and please review this page. Special thanks to everyone who cast a vote for it.
