Pipe Break Appearance in IDW

Hi All Inventor Users

How do you all deal with pipe break appearance in IDW.

Personally

1. I either create a separate extra model and model the pipe break

specifically for showing in the idw.

2. I do a crop in the idw view, maike the crop line invisible

and then sketch the pipe break. If necessary I will do it on both sides

The view break command gives 2 options, neither of which apply to circular extruded shapes like pipes

Hi @MikeKovacik4928,

I think this could be a new idea for ideastation to gathering support. before that, I think Drawing sketch symbol might a good choice. For example, define a symbol library and create the pipe breaks and then insert to the place you want.

Hope it helps!

Xun,

This functionality request has been posted to the Ideas board for almost 5 years.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-ideas/s-shaped-broken-view-for-shafts/idi-p/3793222

Also:

There are 323 votes between the two posts.  How many more are required to actually get this implemented?

@MikeKovacik4928 thanks for posting the good image, would you mind adding it the the bottom of the two ideas shared?

I went and added two more votes.

Keeping the idea active and voted on is the best way to draw attention and get it implemented.

Autodesk,

I got this message from Autodesk on a no reply address

Inventor Queries_104_Pipe Break Appearane in IDW-005.jpg

I got the answer, not the one I needed though!

It is not possible in the current versions, but 2 ideas with lots of votes have already been submitted years ago and not implemented.

Not possibe to mark as an accepted solution, because there isn't one.

This was more a discussion, rather than a question requiring an answer, so this email is actually not applicable in this case,

which is why in these cases I ignore them.

Hi @swalton,

Sorry for late response, checked with idea status, it seems was tracked already. There is a process to escalate the priority, so please stay tuned.

Thanks!

Hi Xun Z,

Do you know if this modification can be done through the API coding? I'm working on this kind of piping drawings and I need to have the END PIPE symbol instead of the straight break line symbol.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

It´s been a few years now since this discussion started... Is there any news on the pipe-cut feature discussed above?

@dan_szymanski this one seems to have been on a roller coaster ride in the Ideas for quite some time.  Can we get the Community an update on this one?

@lnsn Thank you for resurfacing this idea.

Hi everyone,

No real update to provide as this request is not currently in our near term plans for consideration. The Idea for it can be viewed here: 'S' shaped broken view for shafts and it currently resides within the Top 20 non-implemented Ideas on the board. That is all I can share at this time.
