Make part from solid with feature recognition

Is it possible in Inventor to export a solid body with a pattern feature recognition?

In this example I made a part-Layout with a Body "Solid01". Then I have made a Part using body "Solid01" (Make Part function).

Exported "Solid01" has not feature recognition...

If I follow your description :

You have successfully run Feature Recognition - including Pattern, but now cannot select that pattern when placing components in assembly.

Did you switch to model view?

Can you zip and Attach your assembly here?

I just read this again and it sounds like you did not run Feature Recognition.

Without a Pattern Feature there is no Pattern Feature to read in placing the component.

@vkulikajevas

Exporting to other CAD packages, makes the solid "dumb" and all history and parametric values are lost.

@JDMather

Thank you for response.

Adding the inventor files in a rar folder (Inventor 2017).

I need actually to pattern solid according to the hole Pattern (pattern is not always rectangular).

@Mark.Lancaster

Thank you for reply. Maybe you could suggest a workaround this problem? For Derive somehow to retain the features?

I specifically requested zip file.

I do not have extraneous software (rar extractor) installed on my clean Inventor machine.  Only access to Windows OS zip extraction.

@JDMather ,

Somehow Autodesk forum does not permit attach of zip files here.

This is a Derived Component, not an exported solid body?

If this isn't just a simplified sample, I don't see any benefit in using the derived part instead of the original IPT.

With the original file, assembly patterns along a feature in part environment can be done.

Don't trust too much in Feature Recognition. This only succeeds with rather simple geometries.

Dear @WHolzwarth ,

I have made a simplified part only for this example. In real situation I have a multibody layout with many features, which I need to export to Assembly. And this assembly does not recognize patterned features (which I want to find a way to be recognizable. I don't need to recreate the body, I need to use the original body features from the layout. Tried to be specific and as short as possible in the provided example. @Mark.Lancaster  said already that this might not be possible. Maybe there is some workaround this problem...

It should be pretty easy to add pattern of Workpoints to the Derived Component.

This is one of the few real problems with using the master part method of Inventor design, that feature patterns do not carry through to derived parts.

A quick search in the Inventor Ideas forum produced two similar ideas (which need to be combined) to which all reading this should lend their vote:

Recognise feature pattern in derived part when creating assembly pattern

feature/pattern recognition in a derived part

Hello @lena.talkhina ,

we came to a conclusion that this function is not available in Autodesk Inventor.
It could be as a suggestion for developers to be added in future versions of Inventor.

I work with Layouts: i.e. Make a part with many bodies and export them to assemblies (makes assembly life much more easier). But when bodies are exported there are no availability to attach pattern recognition to any of the solids. In this case, when making assembly with other sub-assemblies, with lost feature recognition, means that you have to do the same thing all over again. This function might make use of Inventor much easier.

Furthermore, apparently  this suggestion was already made in 2015 (link provided bellow, thank you @SBix26 )

Thank you so much for the clarification @vkulikajevas !

Let's see what we can do with the idea...I will let you know if there are any changes.

Hi Valdas,

I am not sure if you have heard about GoToInventor (https://www.iti-global.com/gotoinventor). It was developed by our partner to facilitate the process of moving from CAD X to Inventor. It supports feature based translation and maintain drawing associativity.

Many thanks!
